Looks pretty good in just 2 gram heavier then OEM.

i heard some rumors of this a while back. by far the best thing to come out for the 03 imo.

nice, i stripped the shock mounts on my mod car recently so this is very timely for me. i look forward to much more sturdy mounting points.

when will this be available and what is the expected cost? can this be anodized in black? or will ice blue, silver be the standard colors?

it comes in the 3 rr colors and cost under 25 bucks. more info on there site.

Looks awesome! I too would like Black Anodizing as an option (on all your parts).

I would like black for the PCB cover especially, but Im fine with the stanard colors... Love the gray, and blue is good. I just got my preorder in... cant wait to get these on the car. I have a PCB cover thats about to let go...

don't get me wrong, i love the rr ice blue as your brand color but black seems appropriate for this part. this part is pure function, no frills, no fancy, just plain old getting the job done right. the canvas to which the paint is applied so to speak.

i have been getting the grey color for all the other rr parts. if anything i may airbrush one black to see how it looks and holds up.

Either way, function is more priority then fashion!;)

We are considering a black top cover. It depends on how many pre-orders we get though. The reflex colors are light blue, gray and silver. Part of the reason why we are doing them in these colors is to promote our brands and our colors.

How about a special version buffed to a mirror shine!
On the practical side one more vote here for black anodized for this particular piece.

I have the black on the site, but no pre-orders for it. If i don't get pre-orders for them, it will indicate a lack of interest in them, so we won't make them. But I too, think black would be cool.

(Actually, if it's possible to get an entire reflex car done in black shoot me a PM...)

Just put in my preorder for a black one -- I intend to return to the black stock chassis soon and this top cover is perfect, don't have to worry about stripping the top damper holes anymore! Nice job Cristian. :)

Well, overnight demand for Black was so amazing, I essentially ordered a full production of black covers as well. :o

Anyways, thanks for your support guys! This is by far our #1 Pre-order Ever. We nearly sold out of them over night. I have since increased the quantities, but at this rate we might still run out by the time they get here. So if you are a dealer or customer get your orders in ;)

Hehehe, wellwe contemplated on just making Gray and black before we settled on the regular colors. Right as I was ordering the production, I almost added black. When the first couple of posts were about this, and when I saw the reaction of sales and interested in all colors, especially black- I doubled the size of the original order. :) We have sold almost through all of those as well.

I don't like to give dates out because the factory never comes through on time. Last I heard is about 2 weeks. I would guess no more than 3 to ship.

I hope you will fill up Maj's Hobby shop's order since I have been holding out to replace my OEM top plate due to semi warping for the FET'S heat.

The top decks have now arrived and are being prepared to be shipped as we speak.

If you are a dealer, placed a pre-order and for whatever reason you have not payed for them, make sure you submit your payment, or your order will go to the back of the line and might not be able to be completed.

Thanks!!!

It looks great is there any functional reason to purchase?

chad508
2011.07.19, 10:30 PM
in my opinion yes. i have had to replace 5 -6 chassis due to the damper screw post breaking and the top plate warping. it is the worst stock part on the 03 imo. i just wish these came out along time ago.

It is helpful to reduce top plate movement with a tri-damper. I see considerable movement in the stock top plate with my tri damper cars...

+1. If you have a car with tri shock set up you can watch the top plate flex before any load is applied to the shocks. The stock piece is really weak in improtant places, and braeking the post off sucks.:p $25 every time it happens.

I am thinking of getting one, tired of the posts stripping out and cracking.

1. Did you guys ever get any glitch issues with this?
2. Is the space cut out for larger diameter battery wires, or is it basically a stock cover replica? I run tq wire and if it doesn't fit, I guess you just have to file the edges down?

Thanks!!

CristianTabush
2011.07.20, 12:59 AM
Of the ones that have tested the parts, we can say that we have not experienced any glitching at all.

The space for the wires is a little bigger than standard, but not by a whole lot. It should not take much to get the tq wire to fit, if anything at all.

Again nice workmanship, CT. Fast delivery and picked up 3 out of the 4 color since I am not into bling-bling chrome. Very nice fitment and made very solid feedback in turn in with only 2 to 3 grams heavier.

Cars look great!!! I have not had time to even take pictures of the other colors yet, but I will by the end of the week.

On the PN orange... We don't release any orange parts as a show of respect to PN Racing. We would never try to make money off of anything orange, that's Mr. Philip's color.

Got mine, thanks Cristian! Silly question, is there a best way to remove the cover once installed? The plastic ones used to flex out of the way cleanly, however this aluminum one certain should not be the one flexing...

CristianTabush

Try to slide it back, that usually works for me. If not, a light pry with a small flat head screw driver should pop it out without any damage to the part or the chassis.

Just ordered one... seems like this is a must-have. Just too cool to pass up, especially when you've stripped/broke around 15-20 of the plastic lids over the years.

I'm not going to bother with a picture of the same cover already posted.. but...no glitch with my Futaba 3pk! I got the blue color and it's really nice. :)

The cover is a very tight fit with the TQ wire, it's squished against the chassis lol. I'm just going to solder the battery wires lower to avoid sanding the cover.

mine fits perfectly... (http://fastpaceracing.com/content/rr-mr03-aluminum-top-yes-current-d-7312011) :)

EMU

I got my first cover installed last night. Fit is perfect (as Tjay stated). There is no play at all from the cover to the chassis. I had to make some small adjustments to the tri-shock, to compensate for decreased slop that is on the plastic covers. I was able to lock down the damper plate on the cover much tighter than I ever was on the stock or SP cover.

Needless to say, I plan to install an alloy cover on all of my MR03's. I couldnt really feel a weight difference, since all of the mass is centrally located, and relatively low.

imxlr8ed

Perfect fit! Any chance of an 02 version? (or does one exist already and I missed it?)

Old Crow
2011.07.31, 03:11 PM
I was skeptical about this piece because of the additional weight at the top of the chassis did not seem like a good idea. I thought the positives, out weighed the negatives in the end, and I think this is one of the best crafted pieces of aluminum for the Mini-z I've ever seen. Fits perfect and looks just like the plastic piece, nice work Reflex.
