View Full Version : My car is hopping and spinning out in turns
Here's what I have. Mr03 with pn low down knuckles, reflex king pin setup white springs, disk damper, reflex camber bar, pn mm motor mount and ball diff, GTR and 599xx bodies.
The car was great until I put the low down knuckles on it, now it's hopping in turns, and hooking really bad. The only way I can keep it from spinning in turns is by keeping a little throttle through the turn. It will spin everytime in the middle of the turn if I let completley off the throttle. It's also really, really twitchy now.
Where should I start tuning to get it drivable again?

How much camber are you running in the front? To much camber in the front will make your car spin out.

Im running 2. I tried taking the camber out, and it didn't seem to effect the car at all.
One thing I did do was put some damper grease on the other night, and I had never used it before. I took my damper plate apart last night and wiped it all off, and it seemed to help the bouncing alot. Then I put some softer springs on my damper and it helped a little more, but the rear still is looser then I would like.

Does it spin out on both turns?
What surface and what tires? Are the tires taped or glued?
How's the condition of the Ball diff?
More camber on carpet actually reduces on-power steering for MR-03.

It spins in both directions and at all turns I come to.
Running on RCP and using pn 20 and 30 fronts, and 6 or 10 rears
Not sure about the ball diff, I have never done any maintance to it and don't really know what I need to do to either maintane it or tune it. If anyone could point me to an article on tuning a ball diff that would be great.

Why not just put the stock knuckles back in? Then you can see if there's anything that the stock knuckles are doing right and the new PN ones are doing wrong. You might be scrubbing the track, the knuckles might be binding, etc. etc.

I agree with Color01.
Go back to the setup you had when the car worked as you liked.
If it still behaves strange, you can search for problems.
I rubbed all the damper grease off and it seems to have helped alot. I think the grease just made my rear to stiff. It's still really twitchy now, but I'll work on that when I get some time. We got one of our 1/8 scale dirt tracks done, so the mini z might be on the shelf for a little while now.
