It has the new Chase Mode PCB which means it has a connector for a Gyro. If you run the Gyro, drifts will be easier.

What does it do to make it easier to drift?

It adjusts the steering. So if you are about to spin out to the right, it will input a little left countersteer on you behalf.

Some youtube examples.

Sounds similar to the gyro-option that was available for the Dnano.

Same unit. They sell it for the mr-03 as well. Only difference between the dnano part # and mini-z part # are price and wire length.

Okay, but how does it aid in drifting though? Drifting is slightly different than normal racing so I'm a tad confused there. I get the gist, but the package I saw on the link there said AWD Drift assist.

The Gyro unit adjusts both steering and throttle. It keeps the car from oversteering into a spin. This means that you can hammer the throttle and the gyro will keep the car sliding trying to get it straight. It does most of the counter steer instead of you, and it takes off throttle if it is too much. Of course it has limits and if you cross it - the car will spin. Also the Gyro unit has I.C.S. settings for the amount of steering and throttle correction to make, which are crucial to it's performance and if not set right - it wont work as expected.
I have mr-03 with a gyro unit, and I can slightly drift the car on slippery floor. Of course it is not as easy and as good as an AWD car, but it makes RWD RC car drift. So it can help AWD car drift easier :)

the gyro will limit how much you'll spin out. watch the video and see how it can make long sweeping drift, while i believe when you do it without gyro you'll just make a spin out of it.

I thought the point of drifting was to harness the skills and not have the car do it for yea. LOL!

Ok, but you said that the package says "AWD Drift assist".
What were you expecting?

Wasn't really expecting per say, just more curious about it.
