a lot of the guys at the local club simply run the body as is. Some remove the rear spoiler (add PN racing Lexen Wing) and the front lip so it doesnt bite the side rails. A lot of them say its a lot better than a 599XX which is my personal favorite.

It is still a fast 98 mm body if you can keep it clean.

I say i like this body more than the mosler.

I use +1+1 offsets for the wheel, and it's been very good

The HSV is very agile but doesn't generate traction, even at full unmodified weight. I'd put a high-downforce wing on the rear end because it won't stick otherwise, unlike the 599 which sticks at least a little.

On the other hand, the 599 is really not that agile and I've been searching for a body that a good balance of both. Sadly the F430 is a traction roll monster for me, I still need to learn how to avoid it.

brian, do you modify any of the HSV's back end like the mosler where you put holes on the bumper?

Brian, have you tried the 599 at 94mm? I tried it a while back and it worked very well with 2 fronts and 2 rears. It was plenty stable and as you know, the ILR track is pretty technical.

I even tried the mosler with 2 fronts and rears this past weekend at 94mm. Both bodies work good, but I think the mosler produces more front grip.

Maybe just taking one of these wide 98mm bodies and running them at a shorter wheelbase will solve your problem? I know it did for me. I ran the lexus for a while but gave up on it for mod.

The 599's rear overhang was too long for me at 94mm, I didn't like the excessive "swing" and didn't feel like reworking my setup to get around it. :o At ILR I really like the Mosler, the Kyosho 30/20 combo works well with the body to reduce its swing-in tendencies and yes, it produces more front grip than the 599. I only wish I had brought it to ILR that one time, I had been planning to develop the 599 but it was solidly "meh" that day. Next time I come home (Xmas?) I'm taking the F430, it's been by far the most hooked up shell for the medium-grip RCP there.

Back to the HSV -- I haven't cut holes in my rear bumper yet, but if I were to do so I would first aim to cut right in the middle of the rear bumper, leaving the bottom of the rear diffuser as an underwing/impact protection. Still PN legal, evacuates air, doesn't reduce rear weight too much. :) Without any mods I REALLY liked the HSV at Maj's, as long as you didn't touch the rails it was already faster than my 599.

I worked hard on my HSV since i wanted to use it on my +3/+3 offset...
I had to cut two holes on the hood because i'm using extra long king pin front setup, and because of the extremely low hood profile, those pins touched it during movement. Actually i blindly cutted those holes, but now i know where to cut, so next time they will be smaller!

Plus, because using it with my mosler setup, i had to smooth some of the wheels cover and front lights as to not compromise upside-down and left-right movement. Same work on the rear....
This body is really not like Mosler or 599 so need to work hard on it if you want to use it with +3/+3 offset....

After all this work i had to apply a 1,8 grams under the hood because it was to light and i think it was too unbalanced. Now it weight 38.5 gr without any other mod!

I tried it on the track and i found it quite similar to the 599, but really really fast! i was surprised of it!! ...Well, it's quite different from Mosler driving which is more neutral and balanced i think, but i think it can gives good results.

Here some pics of mine....

PS: Color01, what you think about it??? ...i always follow your blog and your body reviews and tips are very interesting!

that looks good. how about the rear grip? is it good? do you cut any holes besides accomodating the extra long king pin.

i personally use RR reverse kingpin with +1 +1 offset in 96 mm setup. this car is fast, but i have to prevent it from snagging the rails.

thinking of cutting the front spoilers, but afraid it'll compromise the integrity.

Personally i front bumper doesn't interfere too much, except for mins is black painted and sometimes i cannot see exact size while driving!
I agree with cutting it can compromise its integrity.

Rear grip is excellent, really... i think i've to work a little more on the front because it seems too light, but rear fells good to me.

I wanted to try this body without modifications on my setup, so much work needed. I think that using reccomended offset (+2/+2) can avoid you to make all that work.

Wow, that looks really nice! It's hard to tell exactly how much shaving you had to do but the body looks good with those colors and those wheels. When I run mine, I use +2.5N/+2.5W and don't shave anything, somehow there is enough clearance so I run it like that.

What kind of track do you run on? I struggle to give my stock HSV more rear traction on most tracks, except for Maj's RCP which gave it the grip it needed to go REALLY fast.

Thanks a lot!

Yes, i tried not to modify body too much...
I'm curious too to know if the holes affect aero properties, and i'm also thinking to try covering holes with adhesives!!!!

I had to shave not so much on the wheels line, but i shaved more under the inside, in the front, because front tires were touching during spring compression...

do you mean atomic S6 rims or you put shims to get +2.5 offset?

Kyosho RE30's. +2.5N up front, and +2W in the rear with 0.5mm of shims. :)

+ 3 Offset all the way around does run pretty good in lot more stable from wide track.
