Just found the atomic AR030 on the net and they claim it to be faster then the xspeed. Can anyone give me there opinion on the 2 motors in comparison?

The Atomic AR-030 Ball Bearing Stock motor is a 48 Turn design. It is very efficient and it runs cooler and faster than the X-speed motor. The brushes also last a long time. You can replace brushes easily compared to the X-speed. Most importantly, the Atomic motor has two screw holes so you can mount the motor securely on aftermarket motor motors. There are no screw holes for the X-speed.

AtomicMods has a AR-030 evaluation page with detailed test results:

Quick question about te xspeed. Does it need 2.4ghz to work or is it compatible with both 27mhz & 2.4 ghz?

It will work with 27mhz. I really like my x-speed it. My only complaint is that it runs a bit hot. Just let it cool between runs. A heatsink also helps. If you don't race competitively then the x-speed will work fine.
