I'm going to try to get some practice at remnant this Saturday.

Bad news, took my HFAY car out of the box and no power to steering :(. Checked all the wires and they are good so not sure what went bad but my HFAY car is dead. Throttle is fine though, just no steering.

Gary had a spare 2.4 tiki tiki board so swapped this in and it works again. baffled but my HFAY car is back up.

now, to make it interesting, my stock lm board seems to be going nuts as well. the steering is getting power but not responding to radio control. i can hear the servo spinning back and forth but the wheels stay locked to one side. steering input results in no change in action on the car.

for whatever reason, my 90mm chassis continues to run great.

2012.09.16, 08:49 AM
broke down the red chassis last night and turns out the 4th servo gear was missing all the teeth on the small gear. thankfully i had a replacement.

i have some parts arriving saturday! picked up the ultra narrow 90mm mount to play with and some bodies to paint.

anyone know if hobby works has the mr-03 metal servo gear? i also asked courtney if he would restock the 20/30 tires.

also ordered some of the i-lap transponder connectors. these are supposed to be more robust than the pn connectors. i'll find out when they arrive.

I don't remember seeing any metal servo gears at Hobbyworks. Might want to check your steering EPA to make sure that your not over extending the steering. That's what breaks those gears. Usually causes erratic handling before they finally break. Finally finished painting my Honda HSV body just have to put the windshield in it. Got a Audi R8 white body in last week that I have to start painting. Hopefully have that done before the HFAY race coming up. Inspired by driving your 90mm car I'm going to set one here soon. Would like to set up track before the next race to do some testing and tuning done.

i got an r8 body as well ;) also got the fiat 500 abarth. i want to see if that is any better than the mini cooper. if not, i'll pick up another cooper to redo.

stopped at hobby works to pick up the bridge so i can tweak the sensor spacing and height. i hope to drop it back off next weekend. in the mean time core is still on the top shelf. no metal servo gear but courtney will order some. he also got in the batches of 30 and 20 slicks. i finally need to restock front tires so need to pick up a set to check consistency with my current tires before purchasing a bunch. i typically like to buy tires in batches when i know they are consistent.

all my steering settings are factory default for the 5-ur. only thing i really change is travel and centering.

2012.09.22, 12:40 PM
Sweet! I'll be getting some of those servo gears when he gets them in stock. I'm going to have to read up on that radio. If I remember it didn't have dual rate.

2012.09.23, 12:28 PM
already nearing completion on the fiat

oh, put the race line viper on last weekend and had a good time with that:p looks nice going around the track again after so many years.

2012.09.28, 12:10 PM
Sweet. Glad you enjoyed it. Think you'll have that fiat done by this coming HFAY?

2012.09.28, 12:24 PM
Yep, should have both done this weekend. Putting the clear coats on already.

2012.09.29, 09:31 AM
i recommend teh i-lap transponder connectors over the pn giro-z connectors. my order came in and the wiring is much better in terms of the connection to the port, the roubustness of the wiring, etc. it's stiff wire but it's in there really good and you don't feel like your going to pull it out when trying to detach teh connector from your car or transponder.

2012.09.29, 04:45 PM
fiat is done. i'll need to sand down the front nose, the rake teh body has makes the front scrape in turns.

2012.09.29, 06:36 PM
Nice job on the fiat.:) Where do they sell the I-lap plugs at?

2012.09.29, 06:58 PM
as far as i know, you can only buy them from the i-lap (http://www.rclapcounter.com/page1/page1.html) website. i've already tested them just to make sure :p they are slightly more expensive but the robust construction is worth it in my opinion.

Maj's hobby shop in NJ stocks them. You will usually get the items the next day after you order them.

here are pictures. panoramic gets a bit wonky when you have movement across the frame of reference so some people appear a bit distorted :p Marcus is in there driving with 1 hand in one of them

Pretty cool pics. I knew I should of paid the extra money for the iphone 4/s or waited for iphone 5. Especially now you can facetime over cell network instead of strictly wifi.

2012.10.14, 01:31 PM
i'm skipping the 5. not worried about facetime over cell as it requires i change to the new shared plans which will cost me more money than legacy plan i have.

it's funny to see the guy in red who was walking across while i was taking the picture...

2012.10.14, 01:47 PM
LOL. I just got done looking through the pics, I see what your talking about. For me since I no internet out in the country and have a long distance relationship it would be nice to have facetime over the cell network instead of just wifi. But it I would have to change my plan for it then yeah I could see that not worth having.

I count six feet:). Good to see everyone and meet a few new racers. Hope to make the entire race next event. Cool to have that kind of turnout
