MBMZR's first event of 2012 will be held on January 28th. It will be a one day multi-class event, held at the new LET's Go Racing facility at the Myrtle Beach Mall.

The racing will take place on a large elevated layout similar to our previous events and club races.

We have plenty of pit space with electricity. You just need to bring your power strip, pit mat, and light.

We will be running a beginner class, a kids class (for 15 and under), Kyosho Stock, GT2, and Can Am 2.

Pricing will be:
Friday
$5 up to 3 hours of practice, or $10 for all day. $5 transponder rental.

Saturday
$20 for the first class, $10 for the second class, and $5 for the third. Practice is included for the morning of the event. Transponder rental will be $5 for the day. 15 and under is half price, or free with a paid adult.

Tentative schedule:
Friday
10am-7pm - Open practice
7pm-9pm - Controlled practice

Saturday
8am-10am - Open practice
10am-11am - Controlled Practice
11am - Drivers Meeting
Racing to start immediately after the drivers meeting is finished.
I will post the rest of the schedule as people respond, and I find out how many participants we will have.

Rules and drivers list to follow. Stay tuned for other updates, and post if you are planning on coming out.

LOCATION:
The Myrtle Beach Mall (http://www.shopmyrtlebeachmall.com/)
10177 N Kings Hwy
Myrtle Beach, SC 29572

If you look at this map (it's hard to read) we are in number 70.
http://i671.photobucket.com/albums/vv77/MBMZR/LETs%20Go%20Racing/mallMap.gif

It's in the green section, in the middle of the middle section. If you come in by the theater (Carmike 12), you turn right, and we are on the right. If you come in the entrance just south (left on the mall map), you come in and turn left, and we are on the left. As early as most of us are going to be showing up, the prime parking spots will be available. The entrance next to the theater is closer for those parking in handicap spots, otherwise, they are equal. The bottom of this map faces the main highway (17), so you need to come around the back of the mall to get to those doors. I usually come in around the Bass Pro end, as it will be bring you right to the doors I recommend coming into.

HOTELS:
As you know, Myrtle Beach is full of 'em :D There are a number of hotels on the beach, and we are very centrally located between Myrtle and N Myrtle. Any hotel you chose won't be too far. I will give links to a few that look like good choices to me. I don't stay in hotels too often at the beach so my experience is limited.

The Fairfield Inn (http://www.myrtlebeachfairfieldinn.com/) is the absolute closest hotel, and is less than a quarter of a mile away.

There is a Courtyard by Marriott (http://www.marriott.com/hotels/travel/myrcn-courtyard-myrtle-beach-barefoot-landing/) at Barefoot Landing, which is right down the road, and is a shopping and restaurant mecca for those bringing family along.

If you don't mind a 10-15 minute drive to the track, you can find numerous hotels at the beach for under $50. This is the off-season for tourism here, so all hotels should be very affordable. Of course expedia, or hotels dot com will hep you find the cheapest ones.

Feel free to make any recommendations you know, or ask me any more questions you might have. Look forward to seeing every one again!

hrdrvr
2012.01.02, 06:06 PM
Motors will be?

...your own 70t or higher production motor. Un-opened can, no timing adjustments, but replacing brushes (even with silver) is legal.

miamimcnutt
2012.01.03, 04:39 PM
i will run can am 2

thats a 70 turn in both cars stock and canam right

hrdrvr
2012.01.03, 05:39 PM
That's right Albert, two 70t classes, and the box stock. Our group seems to have the closest races with the slower motors, so this is in the spirit of close racing between us and y'all. That, and we have a bunch of new folks racing, and I think we will get more participation from all of them if we are running milder motors.

chad508
2012.01.03, 06:04 PM
well you best add me to CA2 as well. i was hoping for the 90mm class but i know most others dont run it. but dont think i wont run it in gt2 for atleast one qualifier just to see how it holds up

TODAY......WAS......AWESOME!! We had a good turn out with some fast racers, which turned into awesome racing! I love, love, love, the heads up qualifying, and C, B, A Main format. Qualifying "on the gun" really made for some great racing up and down the grid all day, and the end of the day is just intense. I think every one had a good time. It was great to see some old friends, and some new friends having a good time racing together.

Every one from our group did really well. The new racers did awesome. Every one stood up the extra pressure, and improved as the day went on. I think every one raced as clean and fast as they could have today, and that is awesome to see every one put together at the same event.

I had some good runs in qualifying and the mains. Every race of the day was up for grabs til the end. I couldn't be happier with how I performed. I had some great battles throughout the day with Chad, Bill, and Collin. I love the new gear diff, and for the first time in months have a GT car to hang with Chad :D I went to the RR front end on the pan car, and new spur, and it was awesome.

Thanks to my awesome wife Sarah, who...well pretty much did everything and just let me race. If it wasn't for her none of this would have happened!

Results, and a full summary coming soon :D

What I remember off the top of my head:

Novice
Cade
Miranda
Gavin

Kyosho Stock
Landon
Chad
Collin

GT2
Bill
Landon
Chad

Can Am 2
Landon
Chad
Terry

In addition to finishing third in the CA2 A-Main, Terry won both the B-Mains in GT2, and K Stock. Terry, Daddy Rabbit, Albert, and Mike had some great battles that were really fun to watch.

First I would like to say what a wonderfull job Sarah did on race day and as well as the efforts behind the scenes before race day.:)
It is unbelivable what great friends that this sport has created for Landon and me, thanks to our good friends in North Carolina and Maryland.;)
Bill Crotty flew in Saturday morning, raced and flew out Saturday night and raced well in the process. Sorry Bill, I did not have Matt Ward to bang around in qualifiers so I had to pick on you.:o Thanks for coming.:)
Landon had a very respectable day of racing, As for myself, I was beat up pretty bad by my friends from HSH.:D

"Brer"Rabbit. I had an excuse. I ultimately drove way above my paygrade and got away with it most of the time. Way to much time on the stand though for this old fossil. If it weren't for Albert I would probably still trying to find a way to climb down from the driver's stand. I still don't have all the feeling back in my right leg. I wouldn't have missed it for the World and will be ready for the next one.

The whole group is a class act. Well. Except for Chad and he has an excuse. Being a foreigner and all. All kidding aside it was a really fun time and I got to eat two nights in a row at the Flamingo Grill. What more could one ask for.

I would like to thank Let's Go Racing for the event. Gavin and I had a good time, even though I was in the pits more than on the track:mad: never could get the car to handle Sat:confused: I get blamed by my son for not having enough batteries for his last race:eek: so at the end of the event he wins a$25 gift card and goes over to the parts cabinet and gets two packs of batteries and says to me "see if you can keep these charged for me" all I could do was laugh:D.. You missed some great fun Pedro! Well, I guess you've been missing great fun for the last year! I hope you can get out to the track soon. I miss our on track battles and off-track discussions. A lot of new stuff has come out over the last year, and a bunch of new goods just hit the market. There is no better time than now to jump back in! :D

Terry, Albert, It's always a pleasure running with you guys, and cutting up in the pits.

Shelby, Sunday was really the first time I really got to hang with you and Gavin with "less than race pressure". You guys are awesome, and I can't wait til the next time we get together. I'm glad I could help with your car. Hopefully if the set up doesn't translate over the HS track then the radio settings will still help a lot. I think we got like 1.5 seconds out of your hot lap, which is a LOT of time. Not to mention you were running clean laps consistently. Next time grab me for some help before the race, and hopefully we can get you more on pace before or at least during the races :D

Terry, Dad is right, we are not worn out :D More headed in the other direction. We are excited to be racing on a new layout, and to be back to the elevations!

I do not post a lot online any more. I try and stay busy at the shop doing stuff that is more productive. The other thing is, I don't have to come on here to let every one know what is going on. More of our racers are active on f******k than are on here, and I talk to pretty much all of them, almost every day! F******k, and texting are much more convenient than MZR, since it is easy access to my phone.

And as far as a direct comparison to f******k, I see more miniZ related news in my circle of friends on there than I do on here most of the time. Aside from MiniZ, it is one place I can go and keep up with friends from all facets of my life, and my family.
