Where are the rules posted?

Mike Keely
2012.01.19, 07:35 PM
Mini Z enduro rules:
1) There will be 1 class of cars: GT70t. This is to keep things simple, maximize competition and on track battles, and so teams donít have to worry about accidents with cars that are much faster or slower since Mini Z tracks are relatively tight.
2) PNWC Rules apply (aside for any 70t motor). That means 175g, 45mm wing height, etc.
3) The body that starts the race must finish the race. Aside from that, every other part may be replaced due to wear or breakage (OK to change wing due to crash damage)
4) Max 4 drivers per team. However you want to divvy up the hours is up to each team (Each driver must drive at least once)
5) All cars being serviced must exit and enter the track via pit lane. The only exception is in which a catastrophic failure occurs on the track, and a marshal must remove the car (You must still re-enter via pit lane). Only battery and tire changes may be performed alongside pit lane, all other changes/repairs must be done back in your pit space (to minimize human congestion along the pits)
6) Please respect the sanctity of pit lane; No full speed on pit lane, watch for cars on pit in/out, etc
7) Starting grid order will be determined by a 15 minute hot lap session (Hot lap = TQ, so on). After the hot lap session, the track will be CLOSED, and the race will start 30 minutes later.

If you have any questions please post them here. Thanks MK

Team EMUracing will be myself, Shafiq and Alex, we are trying to get a 4th, but since most other teams have 3, we should be ok.

According to the tile count, that layout uses less straight tiles than the capitol challenge track, so i think we should be okay

Like I just told Mike, I think we should be okay. As far as I know, we have access to all the same tiles we used for the CC, and this layout has less straight tiles believe it or not, so as far as I know we should be in good shape

John, Our transponders work there. It looks like y'all should use the #17, that I think Brandon has. Seth from there group has #8, and he is running, but you can take it too, just in case.

Is there going to be any kind of announcing, or is the PC going to be track-side, so it is accessible?

Does any one run Kyosho tires up there, or still mostly PN rears?

I think the PC should be trackside like it was for the Capitol Challenge. If im not running around like a chicken with my head cut off, ill try to give some updates.

Hard to answer that question on tires. At the capitol challenge, I ended up on kyosho tires f/r, but I think some other guys were running kyosho fronts and pn rears. If it means anything, the majority of the tiles will probably be garys, and for stock at his place I think they normally run PN X15s and 6s. But, the ambient conditions at mimis are very different, so its hard to say what will be best. If I had to narrow it down to 2 choices of fronts and rears, id say bring Kyosho 30 and PN X15 fronts, and Kyosho 20 and PN 6 rears. The practice and hotlap qualifying session will be a steep learning curve for everyone I think.

Yes both teams will be missing this race. I know we were all looking forward to it, but with our team backing out the other guys just don't have the race experience to enjoy a 6 hour race. One more first checked off my list! Big thanks to Mimi for hosting the enduro. Even bigger thanks to mike k. And the guys for planning and pulling it off!

It was a very fun event which provided a very dramatic end with the amazing chase for 4th place. 6 hours of racing and only 1.5 laps separated team mzr and team Thomas. Team mzr was myself, mike morse, Cade and Brandon w. Brandon did a bulk of the driving and did it fantastically. The top 3 teams all had close chases through the day as well. Cade carried our team well with mike. I took my cursory turn but didn't do our teams any favors.

I'll make sure I put up my pictures into the gallery. It was great to see many people I don't get a chane to see often.

I am BEAT!!! Such a long day of racing. Lots of fun. This was my first true Enduro, and it was a blast. Both of my teammates have never done one before either, so it was a real learning curve to figure out race strategy, and setup that all of us could drive.

We had a few options we were thinking about. 98mm Mosler or HSV... or 94mm 360GTC. The Mosler handled ok, and had more straight line speed than the 360, but the corner speed on the 360 is what we went with. A little easier to drive with more steering to try to negotiate traffic better. We didnt have the leaders pace, and the SSS team had a group of solid drivers that had consistent pace. Our fast laps were nearly identical.

The end of the race was so tense, with the battle for 4th. The seas seemed to part to give position 4 and 5 as much open space as they could get. After 6 hours of racing, to finish 1 lap apart is great racing. The top three teams were each seperated by a tenth on average lap, so I think it was still a close race considering that all three podium teams had over 1500 laps, and less than 50 laps between 1 and 3.

Qualifying was where we could see the pace of the cars, and really try to figure out alternate strategies to work with. I pushed as hard as I could, traction rolling a few times to try to get the TQ position. I knew that this would not be my race pace, but I wanted to see if I could stick with Mike Gee in pace, and I think I did very well.

I look forward to the next Enduro... Congrats to the winners, and thanks to everyone that came to race and thanks to Mimi for hosting the race at The Track.

What can I say but first class event, first class facility and a first class group of people.

I hope that nobody had any issues with our ten year old team member. Events like this are great training for youngsters cause it is about survival and driving a constantly changing car and track conditions. He had an awful lot of fun and met a few more racer's. Thanks Ray for holding up your end and super thanks to Brandon for coming in and performing near miracles with a completely unfamiliar set up. What a job he did. Something that you guys that were not at the race did not see, second place was in the lead at about the 2 hour mark. We got it back about 20 minutes later and we both stayed with in about two laps until the 4 and 1/2 hour mark. At that time the second place team noticed that their car had stopped counting. When they noticed this they had gone down 20 laps that did not count. It took another 10 laps to put a new transponder wire in. At that time we went into cruise control. We had planed another tire change but we just took it easy to conserve the car.

Big change in the traction from the start of the race and the end of the race.

arch2b
2012.02.19, 08:40 PM
did you catch a glimpse of thomas crew car at the end? Gary was running on less than rubber bands there at the end. :p they didn't have much of a choice though given the gap was dwindling with brandon at the wheel. i think the only time our team's gap grew (laps behind) was while i was driving. even after 40 minutes i still couldn't get a comfortable groove going. i had a couple good laps sprinkled throughout but overall was playing p****** off the rails. Cade did very well.

i have to give melvin huge props. i don't think i could have pulled off a 6hr race with a 2 man team. they did an amazing job of keeping it going with extreme lengths of time at the wheel.

I did not see that but I did know that both MZR and the Thomas Crew had to change motors during the race. The Thomas crew kept loosing pinions (about 4 I think ) and MZR's car just stopped so they changed motors.

Funny but maybe an hour in I jokingly asked joe to throw us a bone and roll w wheel off and within maybe 2 hours I saw 2 wheels roll off. It wasn't funny seeing it happen but funny that I called it.

Yep, our motor locked up with brushes that had worn to nothing. Wasn't there to see what happened with team Thomas motor. I did see them lose numerous pinions

The entire race was run with virtually no marshals. There were enough people standing by the pits or timing table to handle the little marshalling that was needed.

Our team always made sure to have one driver by the track to marshal. While it was stated that it wasnt required, we felt that it would be best to follow this route. Also, if there was a problem with our car, we can address it much faster

I dont think that Marshaling was a problem at this event at all. Layout was good and gave the marshal a runway past the straight so they didnt have to step on the track to get to the cars.

Mleemor is a heck of a marshal, but if I can help it, I would marshal for him so he can rest and watch the show.

Cade did an awesome job at the race. I was very surprised by how much he had learned since the last time that I raced with him. I could hear how he was talking when he was driving the car and explaining problems with it to his team. He knew a lot more than I expected him to know. On the drive back home we talked about him and how impressed we were for at least 30 minutes... :)

I am paying for it today though. I was only able to get in two miles this morning instead of three. Treadmill of course.

had there been 8 or more cars, i think marshaling may have been needed but 6 kept things spaced out for enough to where there wasn't to many instances of traffic accidents. those hanging around the track did a very good job of helping everyone out when needed.
