If you pay for the racing, does any of that go towards RCX admission? Or do you also need to pay for both days of admission?

Do you know how the race structure is going to be scheduled? Will we have an oppotunity to check out the show while racing?

no... rcx is not giving us tickets for the drivers this year as they have in the past so all drivers will need to purchase there own tickets..... even philip and i have to buy tickets to get in so we can run the event!:(

it is all dependent on how many drivers attend and how many classes will be run!

I have a few questions.

I will only be showing up on Sunday, will I still have to pay the $40 for the race fee and "entry fee"?

If I'm still required to pay the $40 are the entry passes day specific or can I use one for my guest?

IT IS DAY SPECIFIC
if you are only coming on one day just pay the 20.00 entry fee to entryfee@pnracing.com and pre purchase your ticket on line with rcx https://rcx.webconnex.com/longbeach2012_sunday

You can pay to us 20.00 + 10.00, we can arrange the Sunday ticket to you.

Thanks guys. I will actually have 2 guests, should I just pay you $20 (race) + $30 (entry fees) or should I just order the 2 guest tickets separately.

Edit:
Actually I will be in the area again this week, I'll make a trip out to your store and discuss details in person.

The rules same as PNWC rules, except the follow:
1.Pan Stock rules same as Pan Mod except the motor is hand out 70T, so you need PN Pan body ONLY.
2. Layout is not same as regional layout.

http://pnracing.us/pnwc2012/pnwc-2012-rules.htm

What a tiring weekend. :o I thought we had some glitching issues last year, but they were completely insignificant compared to this past weekend! I threw away 3 qualifiers and broke Alex's F1 car to boot, but thankfully the cars behaved OK enough for me to finish the mains.

Two big sorries to Peter Dinh for being on the receiving end of one glitch and one brain fart, I hope you enjoyed our battle despite those incidents. :o Next time we race F1 I'll be sure to scrub in the tires before the main so I can give you a good run for your money. ;)

Aside from the glitching issues and bad sleep deprivation I think I had fun. :) The car is most certainly put together now, just have to work out the driver and we'll start doing better.

Big thanks to sponsors PN, ILR, FPR, KO and Kyosho and to Binh and Grant for MC'ing! Hope we can continue having these big, high-visibility races every year.

(Front diffusers rock! :D)

had a blast....for the most part. LOL it was great to see all you guys again.

Big thanks to Grant, Panda? (i believe is the name I heard going around),the ILR group, and FPR...I was getting completely frustrated with the bind problem, especially having to throw away a qualifier right in the middle when the car was so good. Thanks for the push and the help for me to stay in the game.

Somewhere through the weekend I found some peace at mind, especially when glitching at the start of Mod B on pole. Kinda odd...I've learned that it "glitched" nothing I can do will fix it, just let it be. I was really bummed, but nothing I can do sooo... I just stood up on the stand and watched the race.

At least luck went my way to keep it together to take 3rd in stock A.

Overall great weekend, and I may have learned to calm down a bit. Before this weekend I have never driven so hard, causing my whole body to shake.

Thanks for the experience!

That was a great turnout and we had a blast hanging out and racing with everyone. Thank you PN, SoCal, ILR and everyone else that came out.

We hope to see everyone and then some next month for the KO and PN Regional and PN Final coming up.

Brian - no problem man, to be continued next month :-)

Hopefully we will have less binding/glitching next time.

And thanks Philip for hooking it up with the F1 rear tires. Those were awesome!

I feel lucky to have had the opportunity to participate in an event like this. Big thanks to everyone who helped make it possible! Grant did a great job running the show and it was awesome getting to meet some new faces.

When I wasn't racing, I was out geeking hard on the convention and here's my collection of photos http://s1169.photobucket.com/albums/r505/dandandan3/ Here's a sample from that collection that I think you all will appreciate, a motor break-in party!

this is denatured alcohol, but I have a new solution I use now... still testing it before I say anything... but its a mixture of stuff.

I have a feeling that the "break-in" process can be whatever. If a motor is weak, IMO doesn't matter what break in you do, it will still be weak. IF the motor is good, the break in could make it better.

My idea is when dipping the motor, all I am doing is a thorough cleaning. And trying to remove "if any" gunk, residue, anti-rust agent, oil, etc...Selecting the right motor is the key.

color01
2012.05.10, 03:55 AM
Pretty much my experience. In Stock my habit is to just run the motor as long and hard as possible to break in the brushes... by the end of qualifying, the brushes will be at the perfect height where they're shaped to the commutator, but not too short, so you'll get the balance of punch and speed you need to win. If I dip-break-in a motor it's only going to be because I don't have a chance to get enough track time with the car.

twinkie
2012.05.10, 11:22 AM
my motor from RCX was loosing power so back at home I had the com lathed, 16 passes later its ready for brushes.

So last Sunday, I did some testing... I was handed a bag of left overs from the Tekin. The first two motors I wasn't that picky with selecting them. One is alright, the second burned right up 150F when running for about 1.5 min. So I went the bad bag again, and found a motor with characteristics I personally have never seen before. Barely and I mean barely more like closer to no (dont know what to call it) "armature walk". This armature does not move back and forth in the can. And it spun pretty free. I dipped it for about 8-10min in 5:1 solution of acetone and denatured alcohol to clean it. Dont ask why I mixed the two fluids, I trully don't know, it was just a non educated idea. Put a drop of zep on the bushing and the collar. That motor is the fastest stock motor I have ever had.

Hot set of batteries on my other decent motor, I was struggling to get a 9.6. Popped this motor in out of the gate 9.4. A hot set of batteries and some cleaner driving 9.2 is my fastest. Consistency sucks for me since I practice after work and I feel dead tired. So that is sitting at a 9.5.

Stephen 9.0 (in practice) Romel 9.1 (in a race) is that fastest stock I've seen on the current track at ILR.

So do I suck and am I slow YES, but I know I have a good car. LOL
