a buddy sent me a beater sc430 white body and as it was Memorial Day weekend, i decided to try my hand at mimicking a military theme. a quick google search on ww2 vintage illustrations lead me to a page with countless P51 mustang illustrations. one in particular looked vibrant and attention grabbing so i gave it a go on an autoscale.

let me preface this to say the car is beat up. i had to use kamoi tape as i ran out of tamiya tape and lets just say there is no comparison, tamiya tape is the stuff for me. this other stuff was mediocre at best.

so, take a look and tell me what you think. i'm curious to try more elaborate paint schemes based on vintage military aircraft as they tend to be very bold.

looks pretty good as it is... :D

i would've wanted the white parts done in a shinny metallic finish... but that's just me... :D
can't wait for the rear wing... wondering if there will be any black and white stripes on it...

Looks good! I wish I can make some kind of paint job inspired by something other than car paint jobs. Oh, and Herman, no go on those Square Inch-ups. I'll explain later.

no silver paint on hand, or i would have done that.:p this was done in about 4-5 hours over the course of the holiday weekend with what paint i had on hand. it was a beater body so wasn't going to invest a whole lot of time into making it perfect since it's missing many bits to begin with. it was just a fun project to do over the memorial day weekend.

its also great practice for my hand stenciling work. all of this was cut by hand with an xacto. not exactly challenging work but practice it practice and i'm trying to do more of the details in paint now vs. using stickers.

i also missed the tail markings that transition into the red tail. should have done that. i thought about the black strip on the hood but decided against it.
