similar to threads on other bodies, looking to see what others are having success with or maybe not when using the R8 body. I'm looking forward to trying this myself. currently running the HSV.

FYI, RC.P.Sanda (http://rajitensanda.blog73.fc2.com/) shows the whitebody weights only 52g! (packaging and everything)

the autoscale weights in at 33g! (just the body)

this is a light weight, wide car!

been testing this body 3 days this week! just a direct swap from mosler to audi no set up change.... initially i did not like the way that the body was so tail happy! so i removed the drift wing and installed the pn lexan wing
a few other adjustment and it was a full tenth of a second faster than the mosler
now... the lexan window.... made the car more balanced... better response as well as accuracy i give this body a thumbs up!
btw.... for me it drives like the pn lexan pancar body!!! love it!!!

any more update regarding the r8? can someone test it using 96 mm? what wheel offset will they take if we run it on 96?

(haven't received the body yet. mail to indonesia sucks)

I did a direct swap with my pan car with this body and it works great with +3 front and back. didn't have any rubbing issues.

I was really pleased at the handling of this body and it looks fantastic on the track.

Whats it like for suspension clearance front and rear? Much trimming going to be needed or is there plenty of room front and rear to run tri shocks etc?

THanks!

I removed the "diffusor" and opened up the air-outlets in the rear and have no issues with oversteer. (with a 70t. Will try something faster next week:))

Original rear wing. Did also reomve the front lip.
Running +2f/b, will try +3 in the rear. +3 front will be a real railhugger.
Maybe my RR long-arm-upside-down front is wider?
Another observation is that the rear corners are quite weak. Took a hit to the right rear, and the small "thingy" at the lower part of the fender broke.

She does however look very good on the track. Can't wait to get my hands on a whitebody, for more modifications:)

Like Grant said, Rear Lexan Wing is a must and + 3 all around in running on low profile.Did not expect PN raced to make the Lexan Window too so fast after one week release of the Audi R8 LMS ASC from Kyosho. With the additional Lexan Window, the car is dial with minimal traction roll on high grip RCP. Since it is wide +3. you can dial in lots of steering. Tonight was my 1st. Friday night racing in running this body in replacing my Honda HSV-010.
Evidence this is a much faster ASC since in our current layout, my persona best hot lap was 8.75 and tonight ran a 8.484. With all the PN goodies of Double A-Arm & Carbon Rear Motor Pod w. PN50T & Reflex top plate, this baby only weight 1.68kg!

If your running the long arms with the reflex lower arm then yes the front end is wider, but only 0.4mm

For those who haven't had a chance to hold one in their hands yet, the R8 is an extremely soft, flexible body, and I think the flex makes it fast by allowing the chassis more mechanical grip. I'll have to test one out eventually but if it has good flex AND good aero (we can fix that... ;)) and is wide enough for +3N fronts then as Grant said, it'll be fast.

Such a beautiful body for our cars, glad Kyosho offers variety in ASC's to suit all tastes (94-98-102mm bodies). This Audi I've got a good feeling about it's track potential.... Can't wait to see color0's version of this beast...

I have set up my R8 white body. Although I have not driven it yet it really is gorgeous. A real nice job by Kyosho. Compared to every other Kyosho white body the construction is very thin and lightweight. I am fine with that at the white body plastic is plenty tough. I am expecting it to be as steering sensitive as my Ferrari F430 but with a lot wider stance and less flipping at the limit. It will be fun to see how this car shakes things up amongst the more serious racers.

Finally got a chance to drive the Autoscale last night...

Crap, my 599 and Mosler are officially being retired. The Audi is a little less stable on-throttle than either of them, due to lack of rear weight, but turn-in and corner speed are absolutely amazing. Much faster than the 599 and a little faster than the Mosler, and per transition/chicane you pretty much pick up 1/10 of a second because the R8 is so light and so low.

Absolutely brilliant, can't wait to get my white body painted up. Also, should probably be banned or regulated in Box Stock classes such that it doesn't have such a ridiculous advantage.

So far, so good. Got to test/run it last Sunday. Felt pretty much like Brian (color) said and thats with +3 all around on a medium, fast and tight areas track. Working on different body tweeks.:)

I always pop the side clips out and gluestick them back in, lets me set the height perfectly if I work fast at it too. While the hotglue is still in it's malleable state, I pop the body onto the chassis and set it up by pulling or pushing on the body, setting it on a flat surface to eyeball it. Once it's set, I usually melt the plastic inside the clips with a heated allen wrench right where it goes into the chassis, just a little bit though... A little smush of the things, just enough to make them stick into the chassis.

Oh, and try to use the yellowish type gluestick, the clear stuff doesn't really form too solid or sticky.

A good strong rubber band around the body then a steady but careful application of heat along the sides below the windows with a heat gun or a decent hair dryer until the body starts to relax and the sides give against pressure from the rubber band. Let cool and mount to chassis.

the rubber band approach looks interesting. thank you for the tips. i usually just use a good fibre tape when i mount the body.

I started off with 98MM, +2 Front and Rear, with Kyosho 10 Rears and Kyosho 30 fronts. Set up seemed to be fine. I went over to Cristians house (Reflex Racing) and he helped fine tune my MR-03. Lap times dropped .4 sec the first day!

I want to try the +3... but it looks like i will have to grind off some of the front fenders.. they are close with 2mm.

I use the white auto scale.... and I do the same when i mount the body. I have glue that sets up in about an hour. i glue it and set the height.

Kinda just got back into Mini-Z.. i was a die hard ENZO person.. but now i like the R8 so much better... very stable... i wish the 10's in the rear would last a bit longer... i go thru tires like crazy!

Don't Worry, +3 all around in PN, Atomic, or TRP wheels works like a charm and no rubbing at all.
I have been Racing R8 LMS every Friday night club race since 8/2012 so I can voucher for it!
