Railyard Racing, 2015...
Railyard Hobbies
100 Heritage Drive
Elverson, PA 19520
https://www.railyardhobbies.com/

As to avoid confusion with the other threads out there, I'm putting this thread up for our races and events for our small scale on-road program at Railyard. As of now we have approximately 500 square feet of RCP track there for use. Railyard now has an excellent inventory of RTR kits, chassis and aftermarket racing grade parts as well!

The Rental track is always available for practice and tuning all business hours, and there is a fleet of rental Mini-Z available for practice and some pick up races as well! Inquire with the shop for fees that will apply.

Our club is more about the fun of RC racing and less about the drama! It does get just as serious sometimes but none of our crew are hotheads (well maybe one or two on rare occasions) and all of our racers are more than willing to help out with issues anywhere from tuning to purchases, even to driving tips! We've been having a great time at our new home at Railyard and we hope you'll join us for the best, most innovative scale of on-road racing out there!

The dates below are when we will have the RCP track set up to race with our Club lap counting system and one or more of our club members will be on hand to help out with any issues.

The dates below are all Sundays, 11am to 5pm. We usually start our heats around 1pm - 2pm and start our mains around 3pm - 4pm.

I will update who plans to be there and who has attended as our schedule progresses. (asterisk designates dates past)

Any thoughts to have a 4 hour enduro on a Sat?

abasualdo
2015.01.05, 08:50 AM
Next race day set for 1/25

abasualdo
2015.01.05, 08:52 AM
Mike, we would be glad to host a 4 hour Enduro race on a Sat.

What are your thoughts?

arch2b
2015.01.05, 11:05 AM
if interested in a spec body class for the enduro, i have a shelf full of pt cruisers i would dontate/sponsor ;) could be fun

imxlr8ed
2015.01.05, 12:32 PM
I have mine too... PTs would definitely interest me.

Handout motors for Stock type or just go crazy and run Mod PTs?

abasualdo
2015.01.05, 12:54 PM
:) lol - are the PTs 90mm or 94mm?

DMALMAD
2015.01.05, 12:59 PM
It would be interesting to get some of the guys from Majs to come race and check out the track. We are currently running a 50t turn class with Nimh so we wouldn't be too far off from what you guys are running but I think maybe an r8 or 458 spec body would be easier to run.

arch2b
2015.01.05, 01:40 PM
+1 narrow at all 4 corners, 94mm autoscale.

you are correct. if the desire is to be easy an r8 or 458 would be an easy choice.

not my race though, just offering ideas :)

imxlr8ed
2015.01.05, 02:29 PM
50 turn PT Enduro?... I'm basically an offset/wheelbase change away from that class. :D

I have a Silver and pee/mustard yellow one ready to go.

If we do go PT, we'll have to give Larry some time to get one painted before the race though. ;)

arch2b
2015.01.05, 03:36 PM
if you want to go this route, dont bother painting. i have 12 new in box autoscales. 4 blue, 4 silver, 4 gold. we can just sticker them up with numbers like the kyosho mini-z cup does and keep it simple. no need for anyone to spend any money on the bodies at all.

abasualdo
2015.01.05, 04:17 PM
I am all for running a PT Cruiser Enduro, sounds like fun. But for the sake of all participants, some of which have never driven anything faster than a 70t, think we should limit the motor to 70t, open ratio as a compromise.

We may want to even consider running two races.

Race one:
- 2 hours, PT cruiser - 70t motor

Race two:
- 3 hours, anything goes. Lets see what kind of advantage lipos and brushless motors would potential give a team vs AAAs and brushed motors in any combination.

Just thinking out loud?

arch2b
2015.01.05, 04:24 PM
while thinking out loud, why not just make it a 5600KV or less brushless race? the speeds would be very similar to 70t. it may make it more fun for drivers with less pit time required for battery changes, depending on motor choice and ICS settings.

abasualdo
2015.01.05, 04:47 PM
Good idea, would give everyone wheel time with a brushless car.
Possibly winning some people over.

imxlr8ed
2015.01.05, 04:56 PM
Brushless is fine... for those that own them. Your call though Al.

arch2b
2015.01.05, 07:21 PM
i would be happy to loan a VE chassis to whomever needs one.

abasualdo
2015.01.06, 10:17 AM
Too early to make a call, as long as we have enough brushless cars for all the teams, I don't see an issue.

Ray, using Hfay brushless rules, seems like a good way to go.

Still need to contact and get feedback from more people.

If we are going to try the enduro we need to try and set a date. I go outdoors in a couple of months.

Wish I coulda made it but the odds of me infecting others was way too high, and trust me... you do not want this!

My kid got it from another kid and bam... came home to me. One of the worst flus I ever had! Been close to 4 days now and still achey as hell.

Next date is when?

lfisminiz
2015.01.27, 10:37 PM
We missed you Ed. Good decision for you. A lot of stuff going around this winter. Didn't hear a date yet.

Guys, how does the 15th of Feb. sound for the next day?

imxlr8ed
2015.01.28, 01:07 PM
I'd have to suggest the 8th or the 22nd to avoid conflict with wives and girlfriends. ;)

abasualdo
2015.01.28, 01:23 PM
Thought the 15th would be good seeing as Valentines day is on the 14th. :)

8th works for me.

lfisminiz

Ok, RACING this SUNDAY! Dont forget shop is on winter hours, closes at 5:00. Try to get there on time.
I would suggest with less time, Run heats/main for 70T (open) and Mod. After that, time permitting run single races of whatever else. F1, 70T closed etc....or practice till closing. :)

lfisminiz
2015.02.09, 09:23 PM
Ed.....are you bringing extra track along to expand/change track some?

DMALMAD
2015.02.10, 02:05 AM
If you guys are expanding the track some I may try and make it out there again this sunday depending on the weather. Maybe even get a little 4wd going as I know Larry also has the new IDT:cool:

lfisminiz
2015.02.10, 06:01 AM
Staying the same basic sized track but fill in the one side and make changes....hopefully.;)

Stopped by the shop this morning to pick up the busted loaners, the track is already configured into a very squared out circle track for the kids party on Sunday. Saturday is a special clay track event and rumour has it there is going to be a heck of a turnout... I may go spectate myself.

lfisminiz
2015.03.11, 07:14 PM
Reminder.....racing this Sunday! :)

imxlr8ed
2015.03.12, 01:57 PM
As I have discussed with Larry, the track is a mess right now, it is configured into an oval and is very dirty. I am planning to bring a few extra pieces and it will have to be set up again into a more road-worthy configuration.

Bright and early, 10:45am on Sunday? :o

I'm out for tomorrow.

lfisminiz
2015.03.15, 09:40 PM
Good turnout. Mostly did tune and clean track up. Finished the day with a couple of races.

imxlr8ed
2015.03.16, 11:45 AM
Track assembly and cleanup... something I've never liked to deal with but many clubs do. Huge time eater! Tuning was "fun"... still not happy where my cars are but my 7tooth and my 458 seemed to come along fairly well, a bit of chatter here and some tweaks there... not bad for not racing since December!

Next time I'm hoping to have all my rides a bit more together, at least a bit closer to where they need to be.

So, when is the next raceday?

imxlr8ed
2015.03.26, 01:10 PM
Well, since nobody is piping up about when we are racing next, I vote for April 12th. I should be able to make it that Sunday.

abasualdo

Were pretty much good for racing at Eds place again like in the past. Post your prefered race date for June....14th, 21st(fathers day), 28th.

Good last day at Railyard, no hassles, just racing. Maybe I was a bit too laid back but the last thing I needed was more stress. Just driving, no tuning.

So, next up is ??? Al is working on the next possibility, hope it goes far!

Me?... I may have to take a bit of a break for other reasons but I'll be back for sure. I still want to get the home track straightened out but I have much on my plate. I will try to update as I go.

Thanks to all who raced once again!
