Hello everyone am a n00b here and to RC cars in general. I have picked this up as a hobby because modding cars was getting costly. Here 's my question, budget aside, what would make a serious and I mean road race mini -z. I would like to know everything from suspension up.

Thanks in advance for your help :D

well if you're gonna be doing any real racing, you probably wanna get some nice tires to start off with. I dunno if you got a car yet but i think the low mount/long wheel base is a good setup so you can run straight fast. and if you don't mind the short battery life, get a turbo( dunno what brand is better since i don't have one)
I have some aftermarket rims thats alot wider than the stock wheels and that helps with traction alot.

Thanks..Wedginator nice friggin set up. Now I have one car but I am not to fond of its wheelbase (Audi TT) so I am looking for a better one to use for skyline body. Any recommendations ? oh wait I'll search and dig around.

My question is... are you really going to "Road race". The Mini-Z's that I have ALWAYS find either the one rock in the place or the smallest BUMP on the street and go flipping all over kingdom come. Z's really need very smooth/flat surfaces to run on.

Yep. "Road Race". By my guesses thats Mini Rallying LOL.

go soft on the suspension or you can wait for the offroad mini-z

I am waiting for the offroad mini z as well. Actually maybe I'll use this chassis for drag racing ?? mini 1.4 mile ? is that possible ? if so who do I PM ?

how do you figure how long the quarter mile should be with the mini z? should 1320 be divided by 1/28? or what? ever inch is 28? or is it every foot is 28 feet? how does it work?

1/28th of reality so 1/28th of an inch is 1 inch 1/28th of a foot is 1 foot... etc. take real life and divide by28 mini-z is closer to 1/26 though... I concider it 1/25 since thats the scale of the models I usualy put on it...

1 mile = 5280 feet / 4 = 1320 / 25 = 52.8ft
1 mile = 5280 feet / 4 = 1320 / 28 = 47.1ft
Thus we just use 50 foot.... for the 1/4 mile tests.
