i was lucky enough to get an Overland for Christmas! Needless to say, I think it's great.
I took some pictures while romping around the back yard.
nice look (http://mini-zracer.com/albums/arch2b/mz36.sized.jpg)
climbing the hill (http://mini-zracer.com/albums/arch2b/mz41.sized.jpg)
stuck on the rocks (http://mini-zracer.com/albums/arch2b/mz44.sized.jpg)
jeep commercial pose (http://mini-zracer.com/albums/arch2b/mz46.sized.jpg)

There are a few more in my album. The Overland is fun to drive and take pictures of.

Great pictures!

Just wondering, did you install the difflock?

no, not yet. i'm sure it would help a lot though. i got stuck quite frequently. have you? does it improve the handling on rough surfaces?
(there is no way it would make it across the rocks without 4wd) the trick seems to be to keep it from bottoming out. as long as i didn't do that, it would make it until one of the rear wheels came off the ground. i guess the difflock will take care of that? i'm not familiar with 4wd systems, i can rebuild a vw bug for the most part though.

Yeah, the difflock will keep power to both rear wheels instead the one with the least resistance (like the one not on the ground). It should help on those smallish volcanic rocks in your backyard.

I have not put my locker in yet because it greatly effects high-speed cornering, and so-far, I have been just racing around the house jumping over shoes and baby toys and stuff.

It's pouring outside. Too wet for the litle Overland.

yea, i spend most of my time running the obstacle course that is my living room with my son's (2 1/2) toys. today was the first day i've had to go outside, with sunlight and without snow or rain to try it out. i'm taking it really easy, i don't want to do anything to the body. as soon as i get the toyota body, i will be letting it rip.

what gear does everyone seem to be stripping? i haven't had the time to breakmine down to figure everything out.

i emailed the shop about ordering some parts in january, when my wallet rebounds from christmas. hopefully the shop can get them.

as far as the kids are concerned, i trained my son to know the difference between his cars and mine (my z). it was simple to extend that to his trucks and now mine (my ol). if your kid/s are old enough to pick out cars and trucks, start teaching them. it will save you a lot of stress.

Why save the body?

i am trading it for the toyota body. the toyota wasn't out before christmas, so i got the pajero which looks great too, damn. well, i can always get another pajero body later, i really want the toyota.

don't you think the longer wheelbase will be bad for climbing. I need a skyjacker kit for mine, I highcenter alot.

Which truck are you talking about Free_Style?

the toyota, and yes it will have marginally less ability to climb. the rear end also looks longer which will cut down the degree of departure. i know, but i still want the toyota. i am sure i'll pick up a pajero again. i might wait and see whatelse is released after all, who can stop with just one body. i already have three for my racer.

That is just a lift kit name for real trucks. what would be nice is a z71 chevy body with a 3cm lift:D

Yeah, I'm looking for a decent 1/24 body. So far I have tried a few, but they look stupid with the stock Overland rims. I will probable have to turn my own rims on the lathe but I'm feeling lazy....

Does anyone make a Z71 plastic kit in 1/24?

just giving you something to drool over! rest assured, it is being pampered. i wanted to get some good pictures while i still had it, something for you to admire!

i guess you are expecting your order anyday now? i can't wait! i will get to let it rip and really have some fun with it. more picture opportunities as well. email me of course when it arrives.

a question for others who will or do have the toyota, are there any easy things to break? i've read in several posts that the fog lights are the first to go (on the pajero) which can be fixed with a little glue. i ssume it is the same with the toyota.

i just got my toyota body today! thanks giantscale.
i like it even better now that i have it. it is noticeably longer than the pajero.
i can tell the fog lights are going to be the first things to break. i'll have to get some glue.

The fog lamps were the first to go. Just let um break & glue them somewhere else..

what kind of glue would you reccommend for reattaching the fog lights?

I would use a good CA glue. Found at your local hobby shop.

GiantScale

Yup.. CA glue is good, but better may be testors plastic model glue since it softens the plastic to make the bond.

testors liquid cement is great they look like new crazy glue has that haze left over , either way if you run you overland a lot they will eventually get lost so you could either take them off and save them or keep gluing them on till you lose them:D
