I know there is a track forum but this is for overland so I think it's appropriate here.... anyways

I will be starting to work on a modular overland track to use in my apartment. It will have the usual hill climbs, a log bridge (ala Hong Kong track) some jumps and whoops.

I am also going to do a "boulders section" similar this pic

and a section to simulate hills/rolling terrain, possibly out of paper mache or carved from styro foam or something.
And maybe a section using pea gravel or aqarium rocks(the stuff on the bottom) for a loose terrain feeling

Anyone else got any original or unoriginal ideas on how to simulate an offroad/rally type environment inside? short of bringing a bunch of dirt and rocks into my home.

how about a log crawl similar to this pic

you could use fat pencils, carved block of foam or something like that. part of the techincal section.

I was thinking of using both pencil size sticks, some slightly bigger at around 3/4 inch diameter as well as finding some 1' and 2 inch branches and splitting them in half.
Like in this crappy mspaint pic attached.

Large branches and some small sticks attached. But with most of the small(pencil size) stuff loose.
