There is no diff. These things are so easy to build you can take it apart and rebuild and say your American made:)

other would disagree. the difference is i believe in the color of the chassis. i think the japanese manufactured z's are black while the china manufactured z's are the brownish color, so i've read. people seem to think the japanese ones are slightly better in quality.

Japan vs China are very small differences but all of them together make it a better find...

There are Japan Mini-Z with Black & Puple/grey parts... and suposedly the first few made were all the same grey...

So far as I know ALL china Mini-Z have the purple grey parts...

One key difference is the motor, get a china and a japan motor in your hand and take them apart you will notice better wires, better solder joints, better capacitors, better winding job on the armature, better brushes, and even a better motor can, the japan version has metal bushings on the plastic end... the china does not.. its jsut a hole in the plastic.

Other differences are very minor... untapped holes, mishaped body mounts on the sides (the beetle sufers from this the most). bad solder joins on the esc/antenna etc.. that are easier to break , the japan breaks too though just sofer coating on wire. Minor quality issues wiht the assembly of the electronics etc...

They are all made in china now, so finding a japan one is gona be kinda hard....

My Overland says "Made in Japan" on the bottom of the chassis.

I recomend those who want a JAPAN overland buy them NOW! ... because they too will likely (a guess) be made exclusivly in CHINA soon... my guess is they made the Mini-Z in japan and then sent it to china... the clones apeared around this time ;) ... reason for stopping in japan, was to build the F1 and or Overland... in the current factory instead of the Z...

My guess is they are only making the one color in production... if you see an overland that some one purchased, this is the color you will wind up having, any others may be prototypes or someting... at least untill we actualy see multiple owners with different color chassis...

My comparison issues above were related to the Mini-Z Racer, not the Overland, as an example of what they have done in the past, and because the question it was in answer too was asking for Mini-Z color ;).
