Stellamodels is now selling the GPM aluminum damper mounts:

I'm guessing that the rest of their upgrades aren't far away.

I guess no one cares. Oh well. There were only two listed and I got the blue one. The gold one I linked to is still available though. I can't wait for the oil shocks...

We care..

Myself, Im not to excited about buying stock parts or cosmetic hop-ups which wont speed the overland up.

Give us the oil shocks, alum drive gears, bearings & a-bb motor in a package. The other hop-ups.. nah..

What other hop-ups do you guys think will improve performance?

Besides what you already said I can only say Bigger tires...
Unless we start to come across more parts like the stripped gears that constantly fail

Well, I bought the strut mounts because I've already heard of one person cracking their stock mounts. I'm a fan of jumps, so I'd probably do the same thing. Other than the added strength, I agree it's a cosmetic upcrade (a nice one though, IMO). So far, I've only ordered the strut mounts and a set of RCRM bearings. My next upgrade will be oil shocks and some bigger tires (if they don't make some, I will!).

this has nothing to do with performance, but i would like to see a titanium screw set and pillow balls. i have stripped so many stock screws on my racer from the routine breakdown and reassembly of cleaning after racing. i will be getting a toyota land cruiser body and moved the rear shock mount to the middle position in anticipation of it's arrival. this involved 4 screws, 2 pillow balls/screws, 1 c clip/suspension rod. i can already tell that the problem will be worse with the overland.
i was given 2 titanium screws for my racer from david to try and have had no problems with them. they are much stronger and durable. i can't wait unitl there are mzr titanium screw sets for both the racers and overlands in the shop:D

Oil shocks are now on e.b.a.y. I just picked up a full set in blue to match my strut mounts!

Those shocks look nice!

Nothing against the good looking parts. It's just that I will have to buy whatever,, x3. Since I have 3 ,and need to keep them even in speed for our nightly oval bash.

ka ching

:D

What Id really like to see is MONSTER tires & wheels... Then a bigfoot body to top it off !!!:D

I'm thinking the 1/43 scale tamiya 4x4 car model tires would work?

anyone have one of those things with an overland to try? I brought my overland into the LHS today and my friends that work there went NUTZ (the store has ONE mini-z F1 car on the shelf, lol)

There was one of those scale model (but powered) mini monster trucks from tamiya in a display case and the tires looked like they would line up...

although now that I've installed the diff locker in my overland, it climbs anything that the front body lip can get over

Do you mean the 4WD CHASSIS
Item: 70113 ??

I have that & the wheels are nice, but will take allot of doing to run.

Or which kit do you mean?

Thanks

Mike

Damn!

I just bought a bearing set and GPM ball-diff from Stella Models.
Unfortunately I missed the oil shocks though, sold out.
No sign of any alloy gear sets, but they do have all sorts of Delrin parts. I guess I'll have to wait until mine arrives to see what parts are worth purchasing, the ball-diff, oil shocks and bearings are well worth it though.

After reading more Threads in this Forum, I just bought the MV-10 Pinion Gear set.
Thanks to DAMZer and the others for the info

it would seem the mv10 pinion gear set would be the first thing to buy considering all the reports of stripped gears.
i'm waiting to see what the ball diff looks like in the overland (someone please submit pictures for the parts in use album) and wheither or not the reported gpm gear set gets released. i'm interested in hearing reviews of both, before making my decision on which to buy.

you mean like alloy gears or something?

im not sure if it's an alloy or derlin set, but i've read in several places that gpm will be producing a rear gear set. no specifics, sorry.

Well I guess Ill have to get that alum shock tower also:rolleyes: I was running w/o the body and my boy got ahold of it while I was gone & creamed it into something & broke the pillow mount area.  Cant race anymore with one..

Thing is.. the shock towers mount to the plastic chassis. If the shock tower is stronger ,, what will break? You guessed it:(

Also.. the bumpers I have seen , mount to the front end. I think the overland will fair better w/o a bumper mounted there, and let the body & body mounts take impact.

g, sorry to hear about the misfortunate crash. did the pillow ball connection on the shock mount break or the connection of the shock mount and the chassis? it looks like you'll have to add some parts to the order.

GiantScale

Yeah kinda sucks, but I think I may be able to CA glue it. It's still half way on. Its the pillow ball mount. forward impact

Wish one of the bodys I have now required the "forward" front end location.

I may stick to plastic for now if available. Id hate to break the chassis with the stronger alum towers. Wonder if they will ever offer a all alum overland version down the line? Or do they nickle dime you the whole way?:D

i think it's only a matter of time before alloy pillow ball assembleys are made, even front servo pod and rear motor pod.
also, is it me or is the toyota body much easier to get on and off?

BLiND

I never had any problems with getting my toyota body on/off. Maybe because its slightly longer the body bends easier?

GiantScale

Yes the Toyota is much easier to remove & install. Longer...

Alloy balls would be nice, but would not have prevented my shock stay from breaking.
