I went through the net and i found out that the Tamiya's Hyper Dash 2 can be use on MZ with turbo. I just wanted to know which one is faster and have a larger torque. Hyper Dash 2 or SO2?

go ahead for s02, it's popular and many people are using it.. you have to modify the HD2 in order to compare with the s02, it is not that worth.. and HD2 has short running time as well..

How many turn is the SO2?

S02 is 39turn, with .29mm wires

SO2 is 38T, with neo magnets

OK, so there appears to be a discrepancy with how many turns the SO2 has....does anyone know how much advantage there is with 1 less turn between motors with the same wind pattern? ;)

of coz it's not a big difference between 1 turn~~:D

but if comparing with S01 & S02, we can see there're really a difference between 2 turns~~

S01 have a better mid-top speed, and S02 is doing better when accelerates...;)

Obviously with neo magnets the torque would be greater, but ya....1 turn difference=bugger all;):D

Which I guess the public are only now aware of ;) :D

EDIT: Are you saying the SO1 is now sold with neos, or that racers change the magnets from ferrite to neodymium?

What's the fastest Tamiya motor have you guys in Hong Kong modified? Is it up to standard? How does it compare to the motors by PN racing and NML?

the fastest tamiya "formula" is..

Sprint dash motor (28turn  ) + Neo Magnets + PN carbon brush + bearing can, running with 7t pinion ONLY!!

it's faster than HD2, but power consumption is extremely high...

so 2 most common "formula" is..

Hyper Dash 2 + Neo magnets + PN carbon brush + bearing can, running with 8/9 pinion for high speed course.

or Torque Tuned + Anisotropic Ferrite Magnet + PN carbon brush + bearing can, running with 8/9t pinion for technical course.

comparing these 2 with PN motors, both S01 and S02 are just between these 2 tamiyas...

NML...we didn't try before as the selling price of this motor is quite high in HK... for handwound motors, we usually go for Mz handwound ones....

u can go to ChaserRC for more details of Mz handwound. :)

Thanks for the info BonBon.

I see that you're a sponsored racer in HK.

What gear are you using anyway. Care to share?

no problem at all~~:D

i have changed my spur gear from original 42t to GPM 40t,

and use 8t for S01, 8/9t for S02, 9t for torque tuned..

or, am i mis-understood the word "gear"= equipments??
