Awsome terrain for OL's

I was just at my local hobby shop and I was looking for faux grass for the unpainted parts of my track when I saw somthing called "Plastar Cloth" it is a foot wide and 20 foot long piece of cloth covered in plastar. what you do is you make a rough looking mountian out of paper wads or foam and then you dip the cloth in water and press it over the paper wads or foam and let it dry. The next day you have a mountian that you can cover with trees, grass, mud, whatever you want. I am going to use it to make jumps for my OL and for deacoration for my mountian track for my Mini-z's They also sell it in bags with just the plastar so you can put it on anything you want to.

I have a hill climb that is drying right now. I am going to cover it with faux grass and climb it tomorrow with my OL if it shows up.

I have my fingers crossed!

that sounds awesome!:D you could make a whole straight stretch of track with one piece! I might have to try it. Post pics, if you can, of your mountain climb!:D

I will post a pic when I am done with it. It has to dry and then I will place trees and fake grass on it for better traction. I found some really cool stuff at the train store for grass.

is the fake grass your using flock? I would only know because i'm into scenic bases for warhammer models and such. Anyway, how about using some of those pebbles or sand that they use in train sets and gluing it down as a nice gravel portion? It's pretty cheap, something like 5 bucks a bag or something, and a bag should be more than enough. You could lay down some saran wrap on top of it and melt it down, just to make sure you dont get little pebbles in your OL. That would be really cool. And I'd like to see pics too!:D

DavidDeLaurier 2003.09.07 01:54 PM

I was going to use loose gravel, but it would be sifted so that I could get out all the "small" rocks, but I like your saran wrap idea and I may try that as well. Thanks for the input.
