My paintjobs
Hello,
My local club closed down over a year ago and sadly my Mini-z gear is in storage waiting for an unlikely resurrection, or a sale. Missing the fun and the friends, also missing one of the aspect I liked most: painting custom bodies, get pointlessly obsessed about good paintjob, printing my own decals, to then slowly destroying my creations on track. If I want a shelf queen, I always thought, I should by myself a static model. I tool photos of my paintjobs but never got around posting them, bur I just found them on my drive so I will post some now out of nostalgia and lockdown boredom. Most of these bodies are now very heavily damaged, this one has survived as I never got to use it. It was supposed to me my 1st LM, chassis made with a mix of leftover kyosho,PN, and Reflex parts. I love the shapes of the Toyota GT One, but it's a really heavy shell so I suppose it was not going to be a great racing body. I used a Tamiya metallic lime green, which is a bit of an acquired taste, I would probably chose a different colour now. http://mini-zracer.com/mini-zgallery...dium/GT1_3.jpg http://mini-zracer.com/mini-zgallery...dium/GT1_5.jpg http://mini-zracer.com/mini-zgallery...dium/GT1_4.jpg http://mini-zracer.com/mini-zgallery...dium/GT1_1.jpg |
Nice! I always have respect for nice clean lines as that is what I strive for and don't always achieve. Sorry to hear about your club. Maybe there could be a garage reincarnation? I race with 2 other friends in a garage. Our "club" participates in HFAY and we are on the slower side, but we have a blast. 2 wide Ls is a big investment, but small compared to what is required for big tracks . . .
I also love the rims btw. I like the looks of the r246, but I wish more styles were easier to come by these days. |
Thanks.
Agree, these are my favourite rims. At some point I got a bit obsessed and looked on Japanese auction sites for Ta-Go (I think that’s what they are called) rims which are all out of production for a decade at least, and I now have a collection of all sorts of alu rims. But these are my favourite! Another car: Deep purple Maclaren with neon colour stripes. Still in good shape now, as it was too dark to race, I hoped the neon colours helped but they didn't really. http://mini-zracer.com/mini-zgallery...dium/mac_1.jpg http://mini-zracer.com/mini-zgallery...dium/mac_2.jpg http://mini-zracer.com/mini-zgallery...dium/mac_3.jpg And another, Ferrari 599 with colour scheme inspired by a photo I found on the internet, tricky masking to get the curvy details, and my usual home made decals. http://mini-zracer.com/mini-zgallery...dium/599_1.jpg http://mini-zracer.com/mini-zgallery...dium/599_2.jpg http://mini-zracer.com/mini-zgallery...dium/599_3.jpg This shell got properly smashed. I added a rear wing, sanded down the skirts even more as it was rubbing against RCP. Not a bad racing shell. |
These are really nice, I especially like the Toyota. Love seeing that body in something other than red, and yours is top notch.
