Hello everyone I am new to this place and just want to say hi, hi.
well I have recently received a mini-z and I love it I think it is so cool. I got the Porsche GT3 Well I joined here 'cause it seems like an active place to post with lots of helpful info. Right now the only mod I have done to my mini-z is to upgrade the motor to the x-speed motor. the next mod I plan on doing is the ball diff. Does this sound like a reasonable next mod? or is there something that is better? I currently have just the Porsche GT3 body that came with it and I have recently purchased a Porsche GT2 body I am in the midst of retro fitting to the mini-z chasis. |

Yea, I did the bearings first. The The X-Speed motor instructions reccomend that bearings be used with the motor. Also, being adjustable, the ball-diff can make a difference. Most of the 'veterans' here also swear by Turbo and X-Speed combo's for pure acceleration with top-end. There are some interesting comments on the other threads about motors and Turbo's. You can learn quite a bit. As scsi says, alloy servo gears are a good choice as those standard servo gears are prone to breaking (Dont run it without a bodyshell) :D Also, serious wipeouts can break them fragile stock servo gears too. I kinda agree with scsi. I did it like this.
-Foam Tires. If you get tired of traction you can always switch back. -X-Speed Motor. You'll be glad for putting foam tires first. -Bearings. not immediately. drive a few hours. -Graphite H-plate. Only when you break the stock one. For some that means this is first. -Ball Diff. If you're racing, go for it. If not, stay stock. Welcome PorscheGuy964, and say g'bye to your mirrors. |
hahahah, I have already lost my mirrors on both bodys.
I think if I make another body I will not even bother with the mirrors. I think I will get the ball diff. since I have the X-speed. I did Just put some wider tires on it(10 minutes ago). The wider tires I got from the model I fitted to it. Now instead of overstear and spinning out alot, it understears and and "pushes". it seems that the car is easier to drive with it understearing but it also seems to bog the motor down when I do try to drift it . with the motor being bogged down will it wear out faster causing me to need to replace motors more often? |
If the motor or batteries aren't getting too hot I wouldn't worry about it. You can always add heat sinks to your list.

i recommend gettin a rear shock set. it solves the rear axle/motor pod/mount hopping problem. i figger if its as bad as it is with the stock motor, its gotta be bad with the x-speed. the shock will keep the rear wheels on the ground and giver you better acceleration. just my 2 cents.;)

For something closer to 2 cents, go with the ear plug damper. heh heh
