Reflex Racing New Product Announcements!

Alright first off guys two of the weapons we used to win the Atomic West Coast Race with:

1. Better Power 1000mah batteries: Tons of power and a more linear power delivery than Orion or Intellect batteries. These batteries are our choice for modified racing since they make your car much smoother and easier to drive.

2. Reflex Racing SSG (Super Soft Groove) AWD and 2wd Rear tire: After Testing tons of different slick compounds and groove patterns, we came up with the perfect depth and number of grooves for a rear 2wd and AWD tire. Not only will this tire grip better, but it will also outlast any other tire by up to 4 times.

3.Avid RC Bearing Kits for AWD and MR-02. Working in conjunction with AVID RC, the leading bearing manufacturer for larger scale RC cars, we were able to develop a high speed, low friction bearing specifically for the Mini-Z's. Now these bearings sets will be available exclusively through ReflexRacing.net. Pictures will be in later on today...

Definitely interested in these tires after watching you drive, Christian... projected pricing?

CristianTabush 2008.01.16 01:27 PM

Tires are going to be a little pricey compared to others, but each pair will be hand cut. We are looking at about $8.00/ pair. Considering they last 3-4x what others do, the price is not bad at all.

Cristian, I agree with you on those cells. Myself and Byebye ran these in the 2007 12 hour and I still use these for general racing to this day, still good even after charging only with the Energizer 15 min charger. We only found the wrap to peel at the negative end.

I am glad you like these cells. I find they have more than sufficient power on my cars. I know that the one thing I did not lack at the Atomic Race was speed!

Pics of the products are up! The top tire is the AWD, bottom 2WD...

Looks good! What are your reasons for the number and width of the grooves?

CristianTabush 2008.01.18 10:25 PM

AWD needs less grooves since the car naturally produces more grip. The grooves allow the tire to get up to temperature quicker and provide more lateral grip due to deflection. The MR02 likes 4 grooves and at the specific depth they seem to work best. Any deeper and they get too squirmy. More grooves and straight line acceleration suffers due to a smaller contact patch.

These tires would be good for RCP or also for carpet ?

Thanks for the detailed explanation. :) Have you experimented with the width of the grooves? I saw your 02 at the Atomic race and the groove pattern seemed a little different than this new picture here.

When will the tires be available? I'm interested in getting some.

also are there front and Rear tires available for the 2WD?

CristianTabush 2008.01.19 05:34 PM

Brian,
They are available on the site already...

Color,
This is exactly the same groove pattern that I ran on the 2wd at the Atomic Race. For AWD, I am also working on a single groove tire which I had really good luck testing with today on the AWD. The width of the grooves does make a difference, but again this is the best we have found.

RedTeam,
Silicone tires seem to do best on carpet to this point. This compound I am using is optimized for RCP and has very little silicone. I've heard the best for carpet is Atomic 10 rear groove (called slick). I also got in today a whole bunch of carpet tires from PN to experiment with on our new carpet track next week and thereon after. My intention is to provide the best set-up development and support for both surfaces. As soon as I know more about tires and set-up, I'll let you know. Everything will be documented and posted on our site...

the guys in germany were using something very similar to the atm "slick" grooves, but like you said almost pure silicone for carpet.
the closest we could get was to use the actual 10deg atm's

those grooves are deffo the way to go:D

Curentelly I'm using the PN carpet tires...they are very good on our carpet but I think they wearing pretty fast. I should try the Atomic though.

you can check with cooldragon, he makes sillicone tires for european market. a couple years ago there was one dopemstic shop that sold his ice tires but i've lost track of what that one was. he's a member here though, .cooldragon i think it is. he also made the best custom overland tires other than rcm super swampers. i'll email you his contact info cristian.
