Track race recording

As the title suggests, I currently record all my club races and those I travel to and share here on the forum and on my club FB page. I currently use a GoPro for recording, post edit on a PC via Premiere and upload to club YouTube channel.

My ideal would be to get top down video at the club racing and no clue on where to start to do so. I dislike using GoPro at the club due to small race area and constant need to attend to the camera. I’d love to have something that can record wide view angle without the distortion from ceiling and not have to move the camera at all. Either record from track PC to mobile storage or some other accessible means to then transport the video files from club to home for editing. I would like the video quality to be HD of some flavor and a frame rate high enough to not show motion blur.

I assume the following;
-either wireless or hardwired webcam is needed
-some video recording program on the resident PC is needed
-mobile storage to transport files

Any recommendations, suggestions, tips?

Have you checked out Insta360?

That is more like my current GoPro which is not feasible to ceiling mount and remove as well as record to accessible mobile media. Not to mention would need to run a plenum rated USB-C cable to the location or plenum rated extension cord to a surface mount camera/adapter.

The setup generally is like putting a mirrorless camera with a wide angle lens and external 4k recorder like Atmos Ninja to an SSD. The mirrorless camera should record 60fps to remove motion blur and also should not overheat.

Sony APSC and Full Frame cameras overheat, Panasonic GH5 was good but Sony and Canon has the best in class autofocus system and we anyway have to set it to infinity like security camera. Sony, Panasonic has good codec so it will not make the file size too big, last time I checked Cannon was producing very large files.

Anything less than that setup is either very low quality and wont be anything better than GoPro.
