EMU Racing MR015 to MR02 Front Track Conversion

I have always preferred the transition response and rotation through the corner on the MR015 chassis more than the MR02. The MR015 may have a higher center of gravity, but the mass is more centralized.

What cripples the MR015 chassis even more, is that if you want to use a wider body, you have to use wide offset wheels. Which increases scrub; which reduces the steering response.

I have wondered how the MR015 would feel with the MR02 track width. So I tried a few PN MR02 tower bars on a modified MR015. I liked what I felt, a lot. The car was very stable, but rotated into and out of the corner better than a similarly setup MR02 with the same body.

I feel that the MR015 with the MR02 track width, can be just as competitive as an MR02. On low grip tracks especially.

I have had nothing but good comments from the test drivers, and locals that have the part.

The tower bars have 0d camber, and .5d caster.

I even have one installed on my Road Course Nascar. I did narrow the front wheels and tires a little ;)

That is awesome Eugene! Congratulations on your first product. What I want to know is when are you going to send me one? ;)

EMU 2009.05.22 12:42 AM

I cant seem to edit the post...
These are available now at Reflex Racing:
http://www.reflexracing.net/proddetail.asp?prod=EMU015R

They are also available at all three of the local NYC Mini-Z tracks/shops.
Action RC Speedway
NYRC Super Raceway
Maj's Hobby Shop (MHS)

I will not be selling these individually, if you would like one you are better off getting one from Reflex. If you are interested in 10 or more, you can contact me directly for a discount.

i totally agree with emu and his points on the mr015... ''The MR015 may have a higher center of gravity, but the mass is more centralized. What cripples the MR015 chassis even more, is that if you want to use a wider body, you have to use wide offset wheels. Which increases scrub; which reduces the steering response."

i definitely understand the scrubbing... back in the mr01 days, everybody was using bulletproof clk's (with +2.5mm front offsets)... and after comparing notes, it all seemed that everybody (using +2.5mm front offsets) experienced heavy understeering...

you just couldn't attack a corner or hairpins aggressively as compared to a body that didn't have front offsets...

experimented with wide rims all around, and this proved to be a bit more effective (until a third party manufacturer came up with knuckles with camber in them)... but even still... after a while the understeering would tend to creep in after the tires wore down...

i've thought of this before and always thought that pn had made this part, this since they did come out with a mr02 to mr015 track width conversion...

i thought it would be natural to have a mr015 to mr02 track width conversion as well... guess i was wrong...

would love to have tried this out... hope that i could get my hands on this part... congrats emu on coming up with this thing...

i see nothing but rave reviews coming... (i figure it will be quite similar to what reflex racing's wtf system is doing for modified mr02's, by replacing rims with offsets, to rims without offsets)

now if we can have tower bars in different lengths, (mainly to... uhhmm offset the (rim) offset... yeah kinda sounds weird - will probably end up costing a lot because there are lots of offsets out there :D) this will enable you to use a front rim that will have 0 offset... and offer you better steering response... :D

The only thing left needed to complete the front track width conversion is the MR-02 Tie Rod correct?

EMU 2009.05.22 05:45 PM

Yes. I use the standard black one...
