La Ferrari rear window touching suspension

I bought my first Mini-Z about a week ago and have used it almost every day. I am blown away by its quality. It's a perfectly tuned machine. I bought a MR-03 VE Pro MM2 Chassis, with a La Ferrari body and a KT18 transmitter.

The top screw on the rear suspension is too high for the La Ferrari. The screw has scratched and cracked the rear windows as you can see in the pictures:

When the body is on the chassis, there is no space for the suspension system to move at all, hence the scratching. So I'm wondering what's going on here. I figure it could be one of the following:
1.) I did not reconfigure the chassis correctly to accommodate the body.
2.) It was made for MR-02 and I don't realize that.
3.) Some other reason.
Let me know what you think the reason is, also if this is a known issue. I tried searching the forums for people with a similar issue but found nothing.

I have another topic open about my rear suspension system specifically. Check it out along with my other current concerns here:

provided the reconfigured chassis matches the instructions for the 98mm, wide la ferrari, it should work fine.

that being said, some of the very low slope bodies are known to have clearance issues such as this. a common fix is to use a reamer to put a clean hole in the window where it hits to allow freedom of movement. this was very common before the days of low profile damper systems. curious if even the MM2 will fit under this autoscale?

this
example is of a dNano but same concept for same problem.

The picture is a little small, but it looks like that cars rear area looks a little different than mine. I really have no idea what I'm talking about, but im guessing I have the mm2 and the picture does not. So is it the mm2 that is causing the rear suspension to be too high for the LA Ferrari body?

I believe you do have the MM2, which does place the shock closer to the window. in order to make the MM2 work with that body, it may be necessary to ream a hole in the rear window or switch back to stock MM motor configuration/shock (if you need to stick to stock parts). Otherwise, replacement with aftermarket suspension is necessary.

The MM2 motor pod is very tall with the top shock installed. I had the same problem when I was experimenting with it. It's a shame too because it did seem like the car was faster with the MM2 pod with a stock motor.

Here is my write-up:

Instead of reaming a hole, are their other options? Example: Can I switch to a lower mm mount? Would you recommend switching and also would my motor fit in a different mount ?

Better idea: I'd rather get a rear shock that's just "slimmer" or lower down. I've been browsing thru the different choices for days. But I don't know what's lower.

depends on if you want to stay stock or go aftermarket. Yes, the standard MM configuration is much lower and will not rub the window but does not offer the disc damper component that the MM2 does. yes, any motor should fit in any stock motor pod provided it has the correct shape endbell on the far end to fit in the stock motor spacer, not oversized or longer than standard motor. Other things to look for, such as the bearing end on the gear side of the very common and popular PN 70T is sliver wider diameter which can make fitting into stock spacers finicky.

Just about all make a rear shock, PN for example has a very slim unit, PN Racing Mini-Z MR02/03 Dual Spring Center Shock Set, Part Number MR2161.

although the design is quite unique, i am a bit disappointed in the mm2...

the design limits what type of bodies you can use with the mm2... any cars with low roof lines and or rear windows may rub up against the inside of the body...

you may have better luck with bodies that have a higher roof lines and rear windows...

you can try taking off the top shock and see how it runs, or try out the original mm, or other third party motor mounts as mentioned...

good luck and hope this helps...

This isn't unique to the MM2, many rear suspension configurations have hit this wall over the last 18 years. The MM2 simply reminds of this conflict in which you cannot always have your cake and eat it to. :o Car designs are also increasingly sleek and lower profile than circa 2000.
