UID 599 Racer Wing...
I'm very pleased with the looks and driveability of the 599, so I figured I would try to do it some justice in the downforce department...

I have not ordered mine as of yet but I will be very soon! If you beat me to it and get one mounted before me... please post up pics for the rest of us! :D Mounting locations (spacing) are the same as my previous wings. This new wing will be up in my shop by tonight. Once again, the Shapeways link to my shop is in my signature below. I am offering them in White and Polished, White and Black, Strong and Flexible. The default material is White and Polished so make sure you have it set to what you want when you order! I also want to add here that it doesn't take much time with a black Sharpie to get these parts black like stock, I'll leave the black option on there if someone desires the production finish look of the black material. No fine print here, just the facts! I am in no way, shape or form responsible for production or shipping or manufacturing quality of these products. All I can say is that it takes around 15 days to show up at my house after I place an order and the quality is top-notch! What I design is what I get. Shapeways has an excellent record of part quality which is one of the major reasons I went with them for this stuff. |
This wing look good.

Thanks! I spent probably too much time on this one, but the cars lines are just so inspirational to me and I had to try to assimilate as much as I could inro this.
This will obviously go onto almost any body you choose, but it's home will always be on the rear deck of a 599! :D It's in the shop now. |
Something else to throw in your order...:D

I'm really impressed with what you are doing. It's the only original development happening as of late.

What is the weight?

And Arch... I'm thinking it weighs somewhere around cool looking and freekin sweet! ( for all technical questions... refer to name of shop ;)) I would run a mass props but I'm not exactly sure of the densities of the printed material. The stuff is pretty light though, lighter than the typical Z plastics. I am planning on getting a scale, so as soon as I get one, I plan to weigh all of the parts I have. |
Given their pricing structure, I would think they would provide mass properties or weight at least.
I think it looks Awsome! I know a lot of guys are very picky about every .1 gram regardless. |

you would think their description would include weight/mass by material choice. it is after all, the process by which they charge for the finished product. certainly wouldn't expect the designer to be responsible for proving finished product weight/mass. having received one of Fove's bodies, can confirm the plastics are very light weight and surprisingly flexible.
wouldn't stop me from using it though:p i assume the pilot holes are designed for m2 screws? i'd hate to see the stem crack when turning in a screw. i also assume course thread are better for this material? |

deformation is preferable to breakage :p

Its hard to tell from pic but is this wing higher that the roof line at any point?

I'll try to get some pics up tonight of a side shot/render. |
Here's a roughly located side shot:
http://mini-zracer.com/forums/pictur...pictureid=1591 Tough to tell from this pic due to the perspective being off and I'm pretty sure I scaled it fairly close. I won't know how low I can get it until I actually get one. |
