Video Content Creation

as the title suggests, hoping this can be a resource for those looking to expand the racing to include video content creation. there are many of us that record races and hoping we can help share the knowledge and experience in best practices to create good video content.

Up until recently, i have been recording all races on my iphone and simply adding a title via imovie. distribution of these files seamlessly from device to PC has proven to be a headache at best, incredibly inconsistent and frustrating at worst. It made my phone unusable for the entire race day as well which is hugely inconvenient.
I have since purchased a gopro hero6 and finding this alone has challenges to overcome such as keeping the camera cool, ensure it has power supply at location as it's hooked up and running the entire day, needing to address mic picking up large indoor fan noise, ability to remotely start and stop recording and of course, post editing.
solutions thus far...
The video quality is far better than my phone. the field of view captures the entire track which is great.
I added a power strip at the location and have it on a 6' charging cable to keep it powered all day.
added a small USB fan to add circulation at the location to keep the camera much cooler (unconditioned garage)
i already have adobe premier so using this for editing.
re-appropriated my wife's unused ipad mini as a camera remote and use this to start and stop recording.
premier tutorial got me to a decent title graphic.
premier tutorial got me good export settings for youtube.

problems remain...
may need remote mic to avoid fan noise, sounds like i'm recording from a moving car window.
premier seems to be exporting video to 9 second files. a google search noted something about 'in' and 'out' points but i've no idea what those are.

i'd love to live stream races but no idea what's involved in that effort.

so, what are others doing? i know we have some youtube reviewers as members generating content.

One thing that is relatively easy to do, and adds a ton to the viewing experience, is adding a second camera. For example, set up one camera as a high overhead that can see the whole track. Then set up a second down low, right above the RCP rail, at some particularly eventful corner. Since you're using Priemier anyway, it's really easy to sync up two video tracks and cut between them.
