PN Racing Bluetooth ICS Adapter

i'm looking at finally picking up an adapter provided i can find a cheap android phone just to use it for this.

does the android app provide the same options as the PC adapter?

briankstan 2014.02.23 05:08 PM

Yes same options

arch2b 2014.02.23 05:50 PM

great, thanks for the confirmation. now i just need to find a cheap android phone/device with a comfortable size screen to keep in the pitbox.

lfisminiz 2014.02.23 06:01 PM

Is the app out for Android version? Thought Kenon said comming in March.

arch2b 2014.02.23 06:45 PM

march is right around the corner. there are andoid apps already for use with the gogolap adapter

what is the min. bluetooth version needed? there are some cheap small tablets with v3.0

KWT 2014.02.23 10:07 PM

Get a first gen Nexus 7.

byebye 2014.02.24 04:26 AM

I have an android phone with Bluetooth that I'm not using. I'm interested in this as well.

briankstan 2014.02.24 08:00 AM

I've used my galaxy S3 with the app available from the google shop. search for Mini-Z ICS and get the appropriate version. I've used it and it's works fine. has all the same options at the other ICS PC versions I've used.

I do get an unable to write message, but the setting do seem to get written to the board and function the same as when I use the PC with the flipside ICS software.

arch2b 2014.02.24 01:10 PM

i found a nexus 7 for under $35 so now it's just a waiting game to see if it actually arrives and working.

Sheesh that is cheap, does the screen work? :)

I'm working on a home brew BT interface, cost of 6 bucks.

arch2b 2014.02.24 06:11 PM

i hope so... took a gamble on what seemed like a china auction site.

TheSteve 2014.02.24 08:07 PM

Haahaa, if anything I'd say you bought a chinese clone of a Nexus 7.

Got my homebrew BT programmer working this afternoon, tested with mr03 and mr03ve so far, no errors reading or writing.

arch2b 2014.02.24 08:26 PM

as long as it works, for the money i won't care.:p

I would be interested in your home brew solution if you don't mind sharing.

Not a problem at all. I started a post with the info, just need to draw up a diagram of how the resistors and diode are connected.

I can not read or write. I get this error message from the app.

goflyingbear 2014.03.10 12:03 AM

Apparently the PN board can only read/write with PN's ICS software. The android app only works for kyosho PCBs.

I bought a bluetooth adapter for my PC, connected to the PN bluetooth adapter, and was able to read/write normally using the PN ICS 1.0 software.

lfisminiz 2014.03.10 09:51 AM

As far as i know, the Android app is being worked on to use this.

yasuji 2014.03.13 03:48 PM

ok... fyi the android software for miniz and ve is made by a awesome miniz enthusiast in japan and not made specifically for pnracings Bluetooth adapter
and we appreciate his efforts in introducing this tooling in to the miniz world

the pnracing android software is coming soon...

the pnracing Bluetooth adapter works flawlessly on the pnracing electronics when connected to a Bluetooth equipped laptop

for the current android software we have found THE solution to the ERROR PROBLEM
please remove the white wire from the plug entirely, just cut it out...
it is a secondary write wire that is unnecessary for the miniz
and apparently it is unnecessary for the pn software as well:)

thanks for the info grant, I'll give is a shot and see if the error message goes away. I've been getting the error message but have confirmed that the setting are being written to the board, at least that is how mine has been working.

briankstan 2014.03.24 09:39 AM

just to confirm, I pulled the white wire from the plug and I'm not getting the write error message any longer, I get a "write ok" message now.

thanks for posting that info Grant.

hello everyone..

I bought today this adapter and I get the same error message ..

I use a standard MR03 short, so the only thing I need to do is to cut away the white wire from my PN Bluetooth adapter, so will it work then?

uses android app MiniZ ICS BT1.5

you can simply remove the wire from the connector instead of cutting it.

I did this and mine works without issue.

ICS Failure board size error.

docent matter what i do, it's just the same message over and over again,
i did try on a different car also but still the same error message..

i use Kyosho MR03 board with the PN ICS adapter and it dosen't work at all..

can someone please tell me what i'am doing wrong here??

Try this. Plug in the adapter while the car is off. While pushing down on the pairing button, turn car on. Then start up the program and do a read. Make sure that the correct model is selected, then make changes and do a write.

This is all new to me. What kind of things do you change?

Dwight and I have them for sale and can show you next race day. The adapter allows you to I interface with the board and make adjustments to throttle and steering. It will also adjust gyro sensitivity. The board works for both brushed and brushless chassis as well as others with ICS capability.

Kris

You can change the steering feel, how the motor reacts, torque, neutral dead zone. backup delays and on brushless motors, the top speed.
