Best set up for Mini Cooper S

Hello, I wish to build a black Mini Cooper S with a lot of silver alloy. Wich is the best motor mount to use for the Mini Cooper? Can it use MM type? I know the Mini Cooper uses 0 offset narrow's, but has anybody used other offset's and width's and found improvments? Please help, thanks!

why do you want a lot of alloy parts?

I have some suggestion that works. This is one of my race cars...

I ran stock HM on mine for less weight on top and only cost $7 and a zip tie :). You won't need the alu mount to cool down the motor. The car can only goes so fast so you won't be running hot motors.

Front offset is zero Narrow with PN 15 tires
Rear offset is zero Wide with kyosho 20 tires

Although my car is an 02 I believe we share the same rear mount and front end. Mine was converted to 015.

Let me know if you need help!

I agree with tjay, you don't want a lot of alloy. The cooper is very sensitive to the way weight is distributed so I'd keep the center of gravity as low as possible.

That being said the best setup I've found for the 015 cooper is to move to a 02 chassis. I know that's not a good answer but if you're gonna run a hotter stock motor, the chassis just likes to roll as a 015.

thanks guys. But I dont think my question was answered. What's the best alloy motor mount to use on the cooper?

YOu can't fit an MM. If i remember correctly the cooper is 90mm, so you need a high mount.

I'm not sure who makes high mounts in alloy. I think atomic might have one, but I don't think they make silver.

not the best but I think the only one... atomic HM.

There was an old GPM mount, however, it is no improvement over the stock HM mount.

The Atomic one isnt too bad, however, it isnt great by any means, and is the only aftermarket HM mount to consider. HM cars are fairly difficult to setup competetively, and the only advantages of the Atomic mount is adjustability of the gear mesh, and ease of installing a 94mm disc damper for a 90mm HM setup.

The main disadvantage is more mass on the top of the car. Increasing the CG.

Brilliant work around Tjay!

I think I remember an old Vit's or Fit that someone used an RM setup on. It had the backend cut out for the motor to stick through. Something tells me your clean work style, you don't want to do that. Just thought I would throw that out there as someone would bring that up sooner or later. One thing I have liked about these HM cars is the limited setups you can run, it forces you to learn how to drive. So you don't rely on a special setup for an advantage over the rest of the pack. I do think the Cooper body is lighter than those two bodies.

I would stay away from large diameter wheels here, the Atomic T.S 21.5mm wheels come to mind. As that would make it more tippy.

I agree with the wheels comment completely, unless you are running very worn/thin tires... Which is the only time I run those wheels.

The Golf body is one of the only HM bodies you can run a 'special setup' with. I tried the R32 on my 015 yesterday with the Atomic VIII motormount. Runs very well, and would kill any HM setup. I love that mount for our stock motor class :P Which started out as a Mini Cooper spec class, and evolved to HM, then to k-stock motor 015.

I like running my vits HM. Just cause I can use + offset in the front (015 conversion) or just run 0 offset on the 02 chassis...

EMU; that's cool you guys have mini-van and cooper class/HM. We too have those class... They're fun!

The Golf R32 is an L 94 wheelbase isn't it? The Cooper and the Fit, Vit's are all M 90 cars. So that 94 MM will not fit those. The closest I have to the Golf is my Lancia Delta AWD body, It can be used with an HM or that 94 MM mount. Those are monsters next to these smaller bodied cars.

I have also tried an S 86 setup with my Lancia Stratos body with the ASC wheels N front W rears both 0 offset using an HM mount. I use a ball diff that is set tight as in almost locked, with this you will be lifting the inside rear tire up quite alot. I have to say that is a wicked combo to run. Between the RM and HM, the HM is more a handful. I think the real cars are suppose to be a handful as well.

Didn't Tagu have some smaller diameter wheels for these car's? Something like a 17.5 or 18 millimeter.
