Hello All! Can You help me to make best setup for my car, please?
I want to get into mini-z's competition in my city.
Currently there are 3 classes in "racer":
1) stock (from the box);
2) hobby;
3) modified/unlimited.
I want to participate in hobby class. The main rules are:
- stock kyosho motor (without modifing);
- ni-mh, ni-ca accus;
- only kyosho mini-z bodies;
- diff 44t, pinion 6,7,8,9t;
- rewiring allowed;
- os-8 family fets, 1 per channel allowed;
- allowed aluminium parts that doesn't influence on car's performance (i.e. kyosho's aluminium motor pod), 0 degrees front parts (knuckles, toe etc.);
- allowed carbon H-plate;
- minimum weight - 185 gramms (with accus and everything else).
================================================
I decided to follow these main ideas:
- less weight;
- less wires and other power-eating things.
So... the body, that I've chosen, is silver McLaren HD kit due to its durability, stability and minimum weight. Chassis - MR-02mm.
Changed:
- removed rear wing, headlight's glasses;
- tires: 20 rear normal form), 30 front (normal form) + glued them on wheels;
- wheels - 0 offset rear/front;
- delrin kyosho diff;
- delrin pinion (9t installed);
- aluminium wheel nuts;
- longer antenna - 180mm;
- carbon H-plate (medium);
- bought new Kyosho's stock motor (it's better than motor from box) and removed resistor (it is allowed);
- changed fets to IRF7317, 1 per channel (4562 aren't available here, so the 7317's are the closest to them);
- rewired motor;
- removed dinky on/off switcher (less power loss);
- greased everything that should be greased =);
- polished diff shaft and kingpins;
- experimenting with accus: varta, sanyo and duramax (lenmar is also available, but haven't tested it yet).
The time is 2-3 secs better, than stock car. The only thing is car sometimes flips while turning 180 degrees corners... Maybe wider base? (+... offset rear/front wheels?)
What do You think else could be upgraded in this case?
Thanks in advance!!
