There is no need to disassemble the module, we will connect to the existing connector.
I will do my best to get this all posted ASAP.

I just wanted to vouch for this. I-Lap did this at the Chicago Mini R/C club and I have a fleet of radios as I supply the cars. I've had 1 radio that wouldn't bind and a radio that went solid blue. Both working great now. A fellow club member also had a solid blue light and it is fixed now.

I have plenty of other radios that work fine. I don't want to claim all my KT-18s are bad radios. But having one die for no reason is frustrating. Bringing it back to life is an electronic miracle

I just posted the full details and procedure in the second post of this thread.

If anything there is not clear, just ask and I'll try and clarify it.

Awesome post I-Lap, one of the KT18 I got from Q'on of Nanotrax a long time ago, had this problem. Good thing I didn't junk it.

Same as others' experience, that KT18 just suddenly died without warning. I hope to revive it.

My question is where can I get that PICkit , how much is it and where can I get the program you are using for it?

Again, thank you very much.

I use the PIC Kit 2
Regular suppliers like Digikey and Mouser carry it. I paid $35 USD.

In the Philippines, I found:
http://philippines.rs-online.com/web...essor/0381582/
They will also have the pin headers you'll need.
Software comes with the programmer.

I've done 10 or 11 of these locally and all are functioning fine.

Hi,
I know that this is a really old thread but I am trying to fix my kt-18 and although I followed I-Lap's procedure step-by-step my transmitter is still on solid blue led refusing to reset, bind etc.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

If you did everything listed and it doesn't work, it could be a different issue.

I can't say any more without some details.
Are you able to read and write to the module?
Did you unselect program memory when writing? If not, it's been irreversibly wiped.

How far do you get down the list of procedures when your results differ?

Yes, I can read and write to the module and yes I have not wiped it (yet).
The edits I made to the EEPROM Data are saved just fine. If I disconnect and reconnect the module and press read again the edits are there no need to re-edit.
When I reinstall the module and try to reset it (down throttle trim + power on) it won't chirp or dim the led or beep, same thing when I try to bind it, the led stays solid blue.
I don't know if that helps somehow but I have taken a backup of the hex file before I made any edits.

That looks correct. It must be a different problem.
I am sorry that didn't work for you.

Where are you located?
