i'd love to be shown an example! i just don't see a cost effective material option currently that would give you the surface definition required for a complete production quality chassis. would love to be proven wrong in this instance

Off-topic but I had another viable idea for the 3d printing process.. ultra-micro aircraft parts and/or heli bodies etc!

Hello,

The Cadillac CTS-V Coupe and Deep Purple (Daytona Prototype) are now available.
All Mini-z bodies were renforced with a 1mm rib connecting the side body clips to prevent side clip disengagement. The mount is very tight now.
Example on Marc's Insight (that I am about to finish)

This was not required on dnano bodies because the plastic is rigid enough at 1/43 scale.

About future projects, a dozen new bodies are planned for 2013, taken from the wishlist:

Porsche 917 short and long tail
Mustang boss 429 + edited versions: bullit GT390, shelby GT500, eleanor
BMW M3 DTM 2012
71 Chevelle
Classic Mini Cooper
69 Camaro + Firebird
Classic Porsche 911 Carrera RSR
BMW 2002 Turbo
Citroen 2CV normal and van version
Maybe the classic Alfa GTA

Will also edit the X1/9 Dallara to stock version (narrower version)

And of course will port all af these and earlier to dNano (except the already existing 917).

I am thinking about this too. Ultra light and ultra strong aircraft parts...
But I am too busy with cars now.

After seeing that previous post, I looked at your store and saw the DP body. I am stoked, and will be placing an order very soon. Have to talk to my local racers, and see if any one else is ready for one I do have to ask, what process did you end up using to finish the one in the pics? It looks amazing!

I don't want to put too much on your plate, as I am a big fan of a few more cars on your list, but 1/24-1/20 scale truck bodies for people to mount to LOSI crawler chassis would be as big of a market as Z bodies...

For the one pictured I applied 3 coats of Motip filler primer directly on the print (no Klear/Future baths this time) with sanding in between coats.
The blue is Tamiya TS19 metallic blue, because I have no airbrush but I discourage using them, there is still a slight reaction even over the 3 coats of filler, that can be fixed with the polished clear coat. If you have an airbrush, use paint with non agressive solvents.

Here are the 3 coats of filler
I polished the last coat of filler using car compound to check the smoothness before a light sanding + applying the paint.

I'd like to make truck bodies, for both the Losi and Overland (slight scale change and specific mounts for each version).
But again... if time permits.

For the projected 917, I will attempt guide rails inside the body to slide front + side windows and headlight covers made from lexan/any clear plastic/autoscale plastic wrap... I will try to design them so no glue is required (slide and snap).
If that works I will make a cutout pattern for the glass parts.

Arch2B, re: lexan windows: most likely 3d scan of existing window and create vacuum mould. Vacuum moulds are very cost effective as they can be done in wood. Lexan is the brand, clear polycarbonate is the generic material name.

I bet there are using the Kyosho window as the mold, or to make the mold. Lots cheaper than 3d scanning.

for your mr-03 h plates, which is the equivalent to a #3 PN or kyosho stock? is there a way to get a sheet of a single one vs. the variety set? looking for a spec class stock h plate replacement and these are both affordable and could be sold in bunches vs. individually.

btw, the CTS is on my christmas list
