Thumbs up UID F1 Side Plate Set...

After some testing by Larry and at the recommendations of other racers as far as quantities, I have revised the Side Plate Set slightly. In the interest of tunability and cost factors, instead of three sets of plates, you will get four with this V2. Also, I have made the additional set even softer than the softest plates from V1.

No pics yet, but you can always give them a spin in the shop:
http://www.shapeways.com/model/89532...plates-v2.html

I am keeping the V1 Side Plates Set up on the shop site though just in case someone wants to modify the solid plate offered with that version to their own personal tastes.

Once again, more options out there for us F1 nuts! I have not purchased a set of these for testing as of yet but I will in time. This revision was completed after Larry's testing of the V1 version, I have no doubt that these V2 plates are functional and beneficial to getting your F1 one step closer to the best setup ever! Besides, Larry pulls one or two laps more than me so I trust his opinion!

The new model is already in my shop and ready for sale.

Once again, the Shapeways link to my shop is in my signature below. I am offering them in White and Polished, White and Black, Strong and Flexible. The default material is white so make sure you have it set to what you want when you order! I want to add here that it doesn't take much time with a black Sharpie to get these parts black like stock, I'll leave the black option on there if someone desires the production finish look of the black material.

No fine print here, just the facts!
I am in no way, shape or form responsible for production or shipping or manufacturing quality of these products. All I can say is that it takes around 15 days to show up at my house after I place an order and the quality is top-notch! What I design is what I get. Shapeways has an excellent record of part quality which is one of the major reasons I went with them for this stuff.

I know... I hate doing that but prototyping is tricky business. Still though, the V1 should will do the job it was intended to do, only now you get more variety!

The solid plates from the previous version are still useful in my mind because this material grinds so nicely, it wouldn't take much effort to wittle away from them to get to your desired softness/hardness level. As you know... I'm a tinkerer, I'll sit trackside with a dremel in one hand and hotglue in the other until I get my cars just right!

Question

Have you considered mr-03 t plates? Our club is looking for cost effective replacement for the stock plastic t plate.

Saw your posts, just didn't want to promise anything right away. I have several designed already so I should just translate the files and load some into my store... can do. Actually, I will be downstairs tonight getting the kid's birthday party setup for this weekend so in between arranging things I'll start the process. I will update you how it goes.

Just loaded up a V3 F1 Side Plate set into the store, went even softer that the previous versions. Extended the flex area and opened up the holes a bit more.

I have these and other new parts on order now, hoping to get them mid-December.

I would've started a new thread for these but I'm not on my laptop right now.

Version 3 works much better than the previous versions. I may produce a V4 in the distant future but for now I'm working with what I got.

Now I am running the thin set right now (the softest ones) and I've actually removed the outer leg from both plates. I'm really chasing down side to side articulation of the rear axle so this is a bit extreme but it's working out just fine for now. I do fear the durability of the plates in their current state but I will have more to add after our race this Sunday.

Sorry for all of the sudden posts, I just feel I have to be thorough with all my projects and try to get as much information out as possible.
