I am in the process of trying to hand wind a motor. I bought palm runners on ebay, thinking it was a real mini-z (easily done). So anyone, I got two and I have oulled one's motor apart. I unwound it and counted approx. 270 winds on each of the three arms. Does this mean it is a 270 wind motor? I haven't heard of any motor with that many winds - surely I did something wrong. Also, what will happen if I use bigger wire? The smallest I can get is 30 AWG, but the stuff that came on it was like 1/2 - 1/3 the size. Will I fry anything if I use my 30 AWG wire and wrap it like 40 times around each of the three arms?
Oh yeah, does anyone have any links for good sites about hand winding motors? They woul dbe much appreciated
Yeah, I've read that a couple times, but it doesn't really answer the questions I have. They use 30 SWG, I could use that too, but does the mini-z stock motor use wire much smaller than that? Because the palm runner does, so I was windering if the circuitry and everything can hold up to much less turns of a heavier gauge wire.
270 turns? OMG, imagine doing that by hand....no thanks. I have no idea what electronics the palm runner has, but if you fried it while testing, well, that's a damn good excuse to go get a mini zhehehe...sorry I cannot be of any real help, but odds are the PCB would fry, as a 40 T is just below the limit before a turbo or FET upgrade are required when it comes to mini zs. As for palm runners, probably bound to fry Only do it if you don't care 'bout your palm runners Just get a mini z...funds permitting I guess
