New Battery technology

Just happend to browse my game spy dailt news and came across this news artical regarding new battery research which i found very interesting.

http://www.sciencentral.com/articles..._id=218392803/

essentially, it's recreating a more efficient capacitor it seems. i am by no means an electronics guru so i can not ocmment on the pratical applications and or future of this but it seems like it'ss in the works and only a matter of years before it reaches fruition.

lets just hope they can come up with a aaa size cell we can charge in seconds for our mini-z's. now that would be cool.

Ahhhh... patiently waiting for the age of Nano.

MiniZ RTR.... $140 avg.

1st edition Nano Capacitor Cells.... $???

(I'll bet they'll be a little more than $140 !)

I'm waiting for when all you need is a couple of RCP straights with a 'charge' plate on it. So everytime you drive over it, it charges up a capacitor. Then just place a few of these around the track depending on the size of the layout and for as long as you pawer to the 'charge' plates you can drive your Z until the tyres wear off.

Capacitors are cheap, yes, but these arent straight capacitors. You can bet that they will be up around $150 - $200 when they are first released, remember you arent so much paying for the product as the technology behind it.

I remember seeing these about 3 months ago, my brother pointed me in the direction of the link, fantastic idea and highly practical. Just think, cell phones that charge fully as soon as you plug it in and last a week between charges, Flying? Need to charge your laptop in the terminal? Plug it in for a second and you're good for the next week. Not only that, think of this technology being put towards automobiles, no more dangerous acid based batteries, no need to replace your battery as often, even the possibility of nearly fully electronic cars The possibilities are endless! Definately one of the greatest breakthroughs of our time in my opinion.
