Broken trigger on KT-18

G day mini-z mates, I was wondering if anyone has had any success with repairing or finding a replacement for the plastic trigger on KT18's. It is in my opinion the weakest part of the entire transmitter and tends to snap off where it attaches to the PCB. The entire trigger is mounted on the inside of the KT18 via a tiny plastic roll which arrived cracked out of the box for me - I managed to glue it back together but it is thin and once broken, as fragile as eggshell. Constantly opening the unit up and having to glue/ reinforce the part is beginning to wear at me and I've searched everywhere for a solution but haven't found any news.

Kyosho themselves do not sell this part separately (buying another KT18 is just not economical) and, to my knowledge, neither does PN or any of the after companies, at least not for the KT18.

Yes, I do have a weathered EX-1UR but I want to keep another working transmitter around for guests. Trashing an otherwise 80% usable KT 18 seems like such a waste.

I'm guessing triggers from other radios cannot be used, either.

On a related note, when I was working at Hobby-Z, our rentals and KT18 customers would regularly suffer woes from this same crappy trigger and we've had many instances where they were only dangling by a thread - the old AM radios had much more robust ones!

Thoughts? Thanks in advance.

Much appreciated bye bye but I don't have the trigger in its unbroken, full form. The hinge section of it , where it attaches to the pcb is about the size of a tic tak and has been reduced to 8 or 9 tiny, brittle flakes

They are very different. I hope to present an upgraded trigger soon, maybe even this weekend. The KT-18 trigger breaking off is a comon issue.

Cheers,

Hugo
