AWD bounces in the back when taking corners

Hello,

When I take a corner the car bounces in the back. So I changed the springs in the back to the soft (red) ones, but still the same. Is this because I'm still on the original diffs?

Tires : Front 30 slick Kyo
Back 20 slick Kyo

Back Toe-in : 1 (tried 2, no effect)
Front Toe-in : 0
Camber : still 0 all round
(After reading allot here i'm planning to adjust the camber and front toe-in)

Springs : Front Hard (yellow)
Back Soft (red)

Track : New Mini96 RCP

Any solutions or suggestions are very welcome, thanks in advance!!

Those yellow springs in the front might be killing you...I use white springs (Atomic, I believe. They're also the low-down springs.)

Tires might be it, too. I had a lot of bounce when I had 20 fronts, but I switched to pretty worn 8's...there's understeer, but if you have a 2PL or something you can adjust EPA anyway.

Is it actually bouncing or are you assuming it's bouncing because the rear end is getting away from you? Like is the back end losing/grabbing traction repeatedly so that it's skipping in corners?

Check your suspension. I had a similar problem and found the left rear knuckle was binding.

You can hear it hammering on the RCP when he goes in a corner. Checked all the parts in the back and everything seems okay. I'll start by changing the front springs and see what the effect is.

Thanks already for the info given!

i just picked up my new awd last night!
jade skyline! i came home an ran hard on my rcp track same thing car is box stock no changes at all. lots of bounce in the rear end to the point if i push it hard it will traction roll bad. car is fairly easy to drive fast just the high speed turn at the end of my 22 foot straight away is hop city!
this if my first awd what do you suggest to make this baby run hard and fast!
it does get hot even stock!
i run on rcp and nomex carpet,
besides bearings and heat sink for the motor.
what do you suggest to change, thanks for you help!

for other mods and stuff, search the forum.

as far as hopping/ traction roll, i'd try to go up in degree on all 4 corners or stiffen it up and take out some of the body roll.

Body selection and chassis tuning are equally important

What body are you running with? This is very important.. from experience, top heavy bodies w/ high CG will cause excessive body rolls and rear end chatters in high speed corners.

For example, running w/ the same chassis setup, my woodone's supra would hop and skip in a high speed sweeper, and spin out easier than when I run w/ my lighter bodies such as the xanavi Fairlady Z. However, turn-in is noticeably sharper with the supra.

If after you've checked everything you can on the chassis and you still have the problem, perhaps try on a different body and see what happens! Good luck.

20 deg slicks,

As far as the hop, it is caused by 2 things:

1.tires tucking under the wheel under hard cornering- Easily fixed by adding a thin bead of super glue on the outside edge where the tires meet the rims.

2.Springs are too long. If using Kyosho springs cut off the first coil plus an 1/8th of the next one. Install the front upper knuckle spacer at the bottom of the front knuckle and leave a little bit of slop in the rear.

This should make your car a whole lot better, eventhough tire choice is not optimal, it should help

No hop but traction roll

Mine doesn't hop but it likes to roll, the hopping goes away as soon as I glued the tires and used softer settings ... any ideas from all the experts on how to solve my rolling problem tho? Car drives great but when I start getting aggresive (like someone is tailgating me) I start to roll at the sharper turns because I started turing in with higher speed I guess ....

Here's my setting, we run on carpet
Calsonic 350z body, modify class, AD Stock motor 19/29 gear

Front +3.5, 20 degree atomic narrow, glued on outside, tape inside
PN purple spring, no spacer
PN knuckle, 2 degree
0 degree toe

Rear +2, 10 degree atomic wide, , glued on outside, tape inside
SAS with Orange spring, mounted to outter hole
2 degree camber
2 degree toe-in

I tried using 20 degree atomic in the back but the car is not stable enough for my liking (I like it to push slightly)

Any suggestions on what I can do to help with the traction roll problem?
