2.4 Ghz for Mini-Z... and more

My experience with the KT-18 and my MR02RM was extremely satisfacory and this leaded me to decide for an upgrade into the 2.4 Ghz field, in order to use the same transmitter with other models that, as far as I'm concerned, are micro RC electric boats. This bearing in mind (Mini-Z and micro hulls), my option would be the KO PROPO EX-I UR (TRP Online Shop: Emisoras - KO Propo Emisora EX-I UR + Modulo 2.4Ghz) that, beyond the Mini-Z ASF module, disposes of a Tx/Rx module for general purpose (Horizon Hobby: 2.4GHz SS RS Set: RF-901S and KR-408SS by KO Propo America (KOP15500)) with a quite small receiver suitable to fit a micro hull. First of all I would need to be confimed about the choice, even if I know that the need of a Mini-Z module strongly narrows the number of options. Furthermore, I would like to understand if the rodio as above, that I suppose it is not a "native" 2.4 Ghz, may be used without the 2.4 Ghz module and how it works, I mean if it can be paired with a conventional AM/FM receiver without modifications or it can work only with 2.4 Ghz technology.

To use that radio with an AM mini-z you would need the AM module for it too.

Thank you kryten,
OK, if I want to use that radio with a Mini-Z AM I would need a Mini-Z AM module. But what is required to use it with something else than a Mini-Z (and not 2.4 Ghz)? I mean, how is the "Tx only set" equipped? Which is its "native" configuration? Does it need anyway some module to be added? After the picture it seems it has its own antenna so that you don't need any module if you use it with a conventional AM or FM receiver.

Most shops sell the TX with a module, the AM module should work any AM hobby grade elecs, then you'd need the 2.4ghz module for a 2.4ghz mini-z,which as far as i know ONLY works with mini-z 2.4ghz.
I dont own that TX,but as far as i know, you would need a module for whatever freq used,2.4ghz 27mhz AM etc...

The Mini-Z 2.4ghz is NOT the same as the 2.4ghz used in other radios.

A TX only set mosttimes means that you get the transmitter by itself and have to equip it with a transmitter module.

The idea is very similar to my Futaba 3Pk unit transmitter. I have five separate modules for various Mini-Z's and other scale RC.

AM module works for any mini-z that has an AM board
AD module is a type of FM specific to AD mini-z units
FM can only work with surface FM receivers
ASF module is a Mini-z specific 2.4GHz
2.4GHz module come in many different company names (mine is Spectrum) and are usually specific to their own receiver unit.

Thanks, it's quite clear now. I had some doubts because I didn't find a spare AM/FM module, the only one I find on the web is the Mini-Z dedicated one (http://www.******.com/catalog/rc-mod...l?cPath=36_125) but I think this one only works with AM Mini-Zs. Does anybody know there is an AM (or FM) module for the KO Propo EX1-UR to be used with any AM (or FM) standard receiver?
