How are you gentlemen?

It has been such a long time since we gathered. I hope you all have been safe and well during this time, so I will just check in here to give some updates on my thankfully uninteresting life.

Life/work is still crazy busy here for me, so that doesn't leave much time (and money) for the RC hobbies. My collection has been stagnant for pretty much a few years before the pandemic hit, and what little driving skill I had have surely deteriorated. But still, I think of you guys and good times in good company.

My Mini-Z fleet is feeling pretty outdated now, but when we meet again I will continue driving them until I can no longer get replacement parts. I have a 3D printer (which is awesome), but there are limits to what they can do.

After so many years without doing RC, I got the itch again but don't have the space in my place to play Mini-Z, or even Dnano. I don't know if you guys have seen these, but there is a series of 1:76 fully-proportional vehicles from China under the brand Turbo Racing, and another newer one from Diatone (the drone maker) that even has FPV capability (and apparently runs on FlySky AFHDS). I got myself two sets of the Turbo Racing Mini Cooper, and I'm having a blast again. They are tiny and kind of slow, but it means I can even have a reasonably interesting track in a 1m x 2m space with some 3D printed track barriers. I don't know what protocol they are running but the bundled controller is serviceable enough. Fairly inexpensive too, each of my sets came with two cars and came to just over C$80 shipped each.

How are you all doing? Drop a line!

-Geoff

Glad to see you back! I haven't had the opportunity to run a Turbo Racer yet but they look fun.
