Cheap Screw Set Alternatives and Sizes?
I want to get some nice annodized screws for my various mini-z. Does any company offer a large set that you can use to change up multiple cars instead of paying for a set of 10 (or whatever the # is) for one chassis. Maybe I'm looking at the wrong places but there seems to be an awful mark up on something as generic as screws.
Secondly, does anyone know what measurement sizes you need for the various chassis? I'm wondering if I could find a screw set at Home Depot or something.

Thanks for the info Drac.
Is this for any of the chassis or a particular one? Does anyone know the exact size and assortment of screw styles for each chassis I would love to find out.

the MR01 strictly used the M2 4-6mm and 8mm screws... throughout the whole chassis, the other chassis f1, ol, and mr02, mr01.5 and ma01.. all have some screws that are smaller that I would hazard a guess and say are 1.5mm tape heads... (so M1.5) lenght of about 3-5mm...
there has been some variation in the screws... and I once bought some M2 screws that did not fit so great, the threads were too small... so try to find a photo of them when u buy them, so you can compare it vs machine or self taping.. etc... i think the Z screws are closer to self tapping... sort of a hybrid.

I can't underestimate the Kyosho hardware, in the past I have use screws from bulk packs to replace stripped screws on other RC's. What I am trying to say is, you use anything other than Kyosho screws it can be a problem waiting to happen. It covers more than the screws, E clips and other hardware pieces as well. The colored (red, blue) ones look good, and some may complain that the color comes off. When is comes to hardware parts I trust the Kyosho parts, they may cost more but I think they are worth carrying in the shop (even the bulk packs, like the E clips, machine screws, washers, and nuts). I know I feel better knowing I can get them if I need them.

I can vouch for the Square Titanium screws, they are alot nicer than the stock hardware.

I used the GPM Ti screws for one of my MR02's. You can use the 4 or 6mm almost everywhere, except for the T-plate connection to the chassis, where you would want 8mm, and the small 1.5mm tapered flat head screw where the power terminals are on the chassis.
I bought a set on GPM Monster Ti screws, but have not tested them on the Mr02 chassis, I plan to soon.

Do the GPM's, Square's, or any other aftermarket brands for the mini-z come in bulk packs? I suppose anything that lets you change screws for more than one car could be considered a bulk pack.

The Monster GPM screws come with 43 screws (as opposed to the racers 15)... Although they are slightly different than the racer screws, they work just fine and thread in a little tighter than the stock screws. The pack has 33 2x6mm, 6 2x8mm and 4 2x10mm screws. So you have more than enough for 2 or 3 cars.
By changing 11 screws to the Ti Monster screws on my MR02 (9 2x6mm and 2 2x8mm for T-plate), the weight went from 98.1 to 97.3g for the chassis (this has a heavy Iwaver motormount and Atomic Dish wheels which are heavier than stock plastic ones).

Cant edit again so sorry for the double post, but I just finished swapping out almost 4 chassis with the Monster pack. Although, I do not use them in my motormounts, since they will not thread into the alloy mounts, so if you are using the stock mounts, you should be only able to do 3 chassis with the set.
I bought the MZM set for $10 + shipping. Definitely beats 2 sets of the racer screws which are $7 + shipping each

how many screws are in this kit vs. the GPM one? because the GPM one is like half the price.

Not sure, I never used the GPM one. I do know that with the larger scales, the GPM titanium screws are of poor quality. I could imagine this would carry over to the Z line as well.
A few of my stock screws stripped out, and the shop had the Square set. So that's what I bought.

What company makes the best selection of screw colors? I am really interested in getting some 'different' colors on my new AWD

If you buy titanium, you can anodize them yourself... If you go with aluminum, your stuck with what they chose. And the best part about the titanium, if you change your mind and want a different colour, you can redip them at a higher voltage and voila... your there. (Mine are currently a medium to dark blue.)
I know Atomic sells their titanium screws in bluk packs (check their site.)
