Light Kit Help.

OK. So I picked up a light kit for my AWD. It's got a few different flashing sequences and what not.

I use NiMh Rechargeable batteries in my mini-z. Long run times, quick charge times. I like them. That's not the problem.

The light kit will not work while the car is sitting still. It's connected to the motor wires.
But, when I put the throttle to full, the light kit will work. This seems to me that I don't have it on the constant power circuit.

Any ideas? I was going to post this in science, but I figured I'd get more help here. Thanks!

ah. so i found it out.

To connect a light kit to work with constant power, take off your pcb cover. With batteries out of course. Disconnect your motor wires too.

Then, underneath the pcb, you'll see two more screwed connections. there will be a black wire on top of one, and a red wire on top of the other. connect your light kit to those.
My light kit has a plug to disconnect it. If yours does not, I think maybe someone can chime in here about the power through the on / off switch.

I'm happy with mine as is.

I don't know how to power thru the on/off switch on the board itself but the way you did it would keep it on and of course it would be ideal to use some type of disconnect when not in use.

I had a connector soldered in to my awd at one point and ran it thru a switch glued to the chassis.

Where did you get the light kit? I picked up a California Highway patrol car (living in California, I just couldn't pass it up )

I saw a movie on you tube that had the police car with flashing lights. Does your light kit alow for flashing lights?

Thanks

Rod, The CHP car you're referring too belongs to Hammer. It has 2 specialized light kits. Here's a link to his post about it.

It's very cool. He did an awesome job. I've wanted to do something like it myself but have never attempted to acquire the parts.
