Ah Grasshopper. Control your urges. I hope that you and the rest of us have something to paint in time for the event. It appears now that it may not be available to all but just a select few. I hope I'm incorrect.

Here it is..........

There are a ton of different ways to mount a lexan body to a mini z. The stock way to mount it is with a piece of velcro on the front of the body, a piece of velcro on the provided delrin bumper and 2 threaded rear body mounts. Bill Crotty has 4 body mounts on his car. I hacked up an old PN pan car body and used the front clip portion of the body and double side taped it to the front of this body and used the stock PN front clip. I have 1 body mount in the rear for now.

ENJOY!!!

Very nice Dave. Is yours set up at 98mm? The wheel cut out look far apart, or is it an optical illusion

We will see how well velcro holds a lexan body on a bullet....
I hope the threaded rear mounts attach on the main chassis....

Well. At least one exists. How about some 3/4 rear angles and a full side shot.

Thats a 94mm setup in the pics. I will take some outdoor photos in a little bit. I hate the way the flash makes stuff look on the computer. Stay tuned....

Any chance to get pics of this mounting system? I know there are tons of ways to mount lexan to mini-Zs, but there hasn't been a good enough way that people have started running lexan. I was hoping PN was coming with something better than ordinary for this. I hate to be skeptical before getting to see it for myself, but it seems fishy that aluminum body posts weren't strong enough but velcro is....

When you take those outdoor pics, could you get a shot of the back. It would also be cool to see some pics of it mounted (and maybe some of how you mounted yours. Sounds simple enough but a pic is worth...).

I know we are asking a lot of you Dave, but I'd like to run one of these at the finals, and I know I'm going to be running against some. It's less than a month away, and this is the first taste we've even had.

BTW, your scheme looks good on there

Holy cow, I just glanced and realized this. I thought this thing was supposed to go for 102mm as well? Is there really room? Did you trim some of the rear off? A pic form the rear is very important now

Here is the supplied PN body mount system. The black delrin bumper has a piece of Velcro applied to it that attaches to the other end of the Velcro that is placed on the body. The Aluminum standoffs screw into the extra holes (nubs) on top of an 02/03 that are never used located right in front of the DPS nubs. Two 2mm screws secure the body to these aluminum standoffs.

Rear view for Landon

^ Thanks a lot Dave! This brings up a few more questions though

Are you running a bumper up front? I see the delrin one looks like it bolts into the body clip slot, and you have that taken up.

Did you cut the rear out, or is this how it comes?

I am NOT running a front bumper. The body is made out of .030 thick lexan which is the same stuff 10th scale bodies are made out of. This is such a small body that its actually extremely solid up front if thats your worry.

You have to cut out the entire body yourself. Wheel wells, rear, sides, everything. Just like a 10th scale or 12th scale body.

philip said earlier that he was unhappy with the alum mounts and was opting to redo them out of stainless steel. he also said they would be up online this past monday, but its now wednesday and....... i think if the bodies are ready he should offer to sell them with no mounting system so those of us running in the worlds can have a fair chance, but that is what i feel is the problem.

on a side note the body looks nice. size wise is it the same as the plastic pan body are closer to the atomic vds as it looks an awful lot like that body.
