What's the official shcedule for the January GTG's? This might help me put in my 0.02.

we have 2 races to run each month. however you guys want to acheive that i'm comfortable with.
as of now, i have the gtg's scheduled for the 7th and 21st, on our regular bi-weekly schedule.
would you like to continue this or pick something like the 1st and 3rd weekend of every month or 2nd and 4th weekend of every month? ofcourse there will be months that would require adjustments to those schedule. thats why i stuck with a bi-weekly schedule.
you guys are making the drive to participate though so i want to make it as easy on you guys as possible.
we could run 1 of both teh hfay and dc points series races one gtg and the 2nd round the following gtg or stack all the races in one long gtg....

That schedule happens to be perfect for me. Those are the best two weekends in January as far as my scheule is concerned.
I think we could run one of each at each GTG. That way if someone is having a bad day or they can't make it, they won't miss out on two events. To keep it interesting we could do the HFAY on track 01 and the GTG series on track 02.
I would also suggest interweaving the qualifiers and mains.
Stock Qualifier 1
Open Qualifier 1
Stock Qualifier 2
Open Qualifier 2
Stock Main
Open Main
Do you have any thoughts on how long you want to make the qualifiers? I know the mains are supposed to be 8 minutes.

great suggestions.
by track 1 and 2 your referring to the hfay schedule for each month which consists fo running the same layout twice, clockwise and then counterclockwise correct? i don't think mixing actual layouts will be practical in such a short time as some have during the gtg's.
length of qualifiers is debatable. i will go with the consensus of the group if it is not specified inteh hfay rules.
i returned your email as well

You are correct. Clockwise then counterclockwise. Mixing the actual layouts wouldn't be practical.

I would say anywhere between 3-6 minutes. But I am up for anything. I think the Arizona GTG does a short (maybe 3 lap) individual TT to determine starting order for the qualifiers. I don't know if we need to be that organized. If I remember the HFAY rules it's up to the group to determine qualifiers.

One more thought...
I don't know what people's schedules are like for this Saturday...
I was thinking with all of the racing (and car adjusting) that will be happening, should we set a rough time to start the qualifiers? When do we usually get the racing going?
I am still a DC GTG noob so if I am overstepping my bounds and disrupting the MoJo of the group, let me know, I'll back off.

our typical meeting times are noon to 6pm but it generally varies to about 2pm till 6 for most and till midnight for others.
i would suggest we start the racing at 2pm or whenever inorder to have the offical raicng completed by the average time most leave which is before 6pm. so we have some room to play with. it helps to get mroe forum activity from the club members or email responses to the suggestions as well. for the most part the club guys are lurkers the trouble is i don't wnat to be making decisions that would esseictally be effecting them more than myself without consultation

I also like the the schedule as is. Trying to run it all in one day will be difficult and unforgiving like spoon said.
I like qualifiers to be in the 5-6 minute range. Its not too long, and will allow for drivers to comeback from pileups. Short sprint races rewards aggressive driving.

it official then
ok, than unless there are overwhelming objections from the others it will go as spoon suggested.
1st gtg
track number X, clockwise
hfay Qualifier 1
dc gtg Qualifier 1
hfay Qualifier 2
dc gtg Qualifier 2
hfay Main
dc gtg Main
2nd gtg
track number X, counter-clockwise
hfay Qualifier 1
dc gtg Qualifier 1
hfay Qualifier 2
dc gtg Qualifier 2
hfay Main
dc gtg Main
qualifiers will be 6 minutes in duration
mains will be 8 minutes in duration
this leaves early arrivals time to setup/practice and it needs to end early enough for those that typically leave well, early there will then be open track time to do whatever, maybe even practice on the next layout.....
i assume early arrival means noon for a 2pm starting time. i'm assuming early departure is 5-6pm and the die hards typically hang out till 10-11pm. i'm hoping this will make it easier for more to participate.
remember, we will have individual rankings and club rankings but most important of all is to have fun otherwise there is nothing in it for me....

Arch2b,
I read that you were going to sit the HFAY OLPS out. That will not do
You just need to find a way to participate. I know it's hard with all the setups, running the timing software and all. I have to do the some thing. it would be a shame for you to host the events and not be able to participate in the HFAY OLPS. Especially after all the help in getting it set up.
Everyone participating in the DC GTG. Make sure you give Arch2b all the help he needs so he can compete.
thank
Brian

it just so happens that i have been chatting with a member about helping out this should allow me the time to join in the racing as you know well, it's not easy doing everything. between being a proper host, wrenching and racing nto to mention the calls to fmaily duties it gets hectic. i've been lucky though and all the dc guys have been very patient and helpful. alomst all of them know how to run core in some manner now so that helps tremendously, espcially when i'm on a diaper call etc.
i appreciate the concern, very thoughtful. compared to how much time your putting into HFAY, my time/effort seems so small. i hope you know we appreciate your time and effort

Arch: Let me know if you could use any help from me as well, I don't necessarily plan on making it into the mains any time soon .

Looks like an excellent plan Arch. Ken has some good insight regarding the longer qualifiers.
About the qualifiers...they are a race against the clock for starting position right? Basically the fastest time from the two heats gets the No. 1 position, second fastest gets No. 2, etc?

soy, we can discuss where help is best needed this saturday thanks for offering to help. one thing is clear though, i can't do it all by myself
unless i am missing something i believe qualifiers are to determine starting position. when you have large numbers of people, it also cuts down the field for the mains.
my thoughts;
qualifier 1 (3 min., max allowable 6 cars)
qualifier 2 (3 min., max allowable 6 cars)
mains (3 min., max allowable 6 cars)
how many out of these make it into the mains? all or limit the number? i am assuming we will not have more than 4 on average particiapte. at most i expect 6. there is always the chance everyone will show up but not all have expressed interest or verbally committed to the series.
can someone explain in detail how this should work?
