i was flying my mini-z around my garage the other day when i ran it into a old lawn mower motor and now i have a dirty great big sctatch up the bonnet i was thinking of putting some thin pin stripes up the car but the thing is dose anybody know how well do pin stripes stick to mini-z shells. also do they take paint off when removing them
I used some Model Car pinstriping on one of my custom Mini-Z models. I used the thin stripes to "paint" the black window trim and such (the stuff I knew I'd screw up with a brush). I know that the paint on my Autoscale Altezza is much more durable than the Testors yellow enamel I sprayed on the custom body, and even when I take the striping off, the paint (on the custom body) is fine.
Bottom line, I think the pin striping should turn out fine.
BTW - I got mine at my LHS - they came in a giant roll inside a clear advil-sized bottle.
I have some of the same stuff, it works great, my favorite application is using it for the front ground effects on the Skyline (rather than paint), as not only does it look good, but you can replace it if your front end gets damaged (as opposed to repainting) and it also provides a tiny bit of cushioning vs. paint.
