hmmm.... i removed the ics adapter nor do i even have the pc adapter to make changes

i have to be honest and say i'm leaning more toward ditching awd. it's just too finiky and too much work to get right for me anyway. i may try the spektrum conversion as my last ditch effort and if that doesn't work get rid of all my awd cars/parts. for the same amount of money, i could have built 2 mr-02's.

Yeah, no kidding. It's nice when it works but it's annoying to carry around a car and replacement parts when I don't even get to drive it really. I will probably keep a dedicated drifter though. The trueno and Rally subaru have to go on something.

arch2b,

Nice discussion about the 2.4G there. And if the new puppy could bind to any existing 2.4G system, then we do have a winning ticket.

I recently just built a 2.4G, following pchan and others advises onboard, and though I must say I felt the turning is not as smooth(not using HRS, and the Futaba HRS spektrum system receiver is a little too large to fit into miniz), I must say I may really impressed with the very fine resolution of the throttle, let along the no antenna look of my C5R! Let's hope the new miniz 2.4G will offer the same benefit if not more.

I too have had this problem. It is so super annoying I cant even tell you. I had a pretty dialed AWD racer and now its just a hunk of crap that isnt even worth drifting as drifts dont work too well when your steering doesnt center either.

We (spoon and I) tried replacing the the steering fets on mine and nothing, no help. Just a lot more glitching. This is super annoying and if you ask me its time Kyosho revised the AWD and came out with an MA-020 or something.

Right now the only two things left to try are:

New servo motor - maybe the old one wears quickly with the added stress that an AWD puts on the steering

New Servo Saver - mine looks worn and maybe its oblong-ed or something

Other than that, no idea. So disappointing as I really do love the AWD. Even more dissapointing is the fact that Kyosho has done nothing to address what is a real problem.

We emailed Tim about this and so far have not heard back

lets not dump all over kyosho for something they may honestly not haev been aware of. afterall, there was no immediate reason for tim to read this thread, he can't read them all, and if kyosho was only emailed recently, then they are going to need a decent amount of time to respond. weeks obviously is too long.

No one dumped on anyone. I edited my rash remarks 10 seconds after making them, so if you are going by what showed in your email, please re-read. I do not fault Tim for not responding, I simply let everyone know that we have let him know. I also posted it in the ask Kyosho forum in case he was unaware that Spoon and myself are NOT the only ones to encounter this problem.

I am at my wits end with this thing and Ive spent way too much money on a car that drives exactly the same as a 50 dollar Firelap. I am a very resourceful person and by my experiments (less the ones I mentioned I havent tried yet) there is a real problem with some part of the MA-010.

In addition to all of this, sometimes companies ignore issues chalking them up to reasonable fail rates. So unless someone makes a big deal of something publicly, much of the time nothing is done.

If we on this forum all of had similar issues (and I see about 6 people that have) it would lead me to believe that there is a real problem that should be addressed in some way.

i read the email

i agree it's an obvious issue of use/failure over time even if only 6 people have reported this publicly, there are countless others who simply don't post and wait to see what resolutions come of this thread. i am equally frustrated as well. i took it fully apart and cleaned/lubed everything.

thats the purpose of forums, to share common stories and experiences uncommon as well

thanks for notifying tim, i got copied on the email.

This is not only a six people matter. I don't have many ideas to contribute and I don't like to write "me too" messages but "me too" .

In our track (Spinodromo/Madrid/Spain) nobody uses AWD for racing because this issue. All people who began to use AWD have sold it now or simply use it for drifting. I know people from other tracks in Spain and all of them have this trouble but there are people who use it anyway, may be the track surface type can help to minimize the fault making possible to drive it.

I've spent a lot of time trying to solve this. I tried to:

- Check the knucle / Upper&Lower cover/ tie rod mounting.
- Playing with different front spring hardness
- File the upper cover to prevent servo saver to be forzed

All of them are ok so I did the next tries without knucles mounted.

- Clean/Lube all steering components (servo, tie rod, etc)
- Steering centering using the PCB mini-pot
- New chassis
- New upper/lower covers
- New Servo Saver
- New Servo Pinion Gears
- New Fets for steering (I've tried 3010, IRF & 4562).
- Preload (a lot) the servo saver spring
- Install new powerful servo motor (it is not a miniz standard one but a r/c helicopter tail motor)

After installing the new servo motor it looks like the steering centers ok.

I still do not have much confidence in it but I will give it one more chance because I love to drive AWD when it works fine.

I just recently had this problem with mine, but luckily, I had a simple fix. I disassembled it once and cleaned everything out, but still had the problem. Wasn't a tie rod issue since I could see this problem happening with it off by looking at the servo arm.

I had an extra pot laying around that looked new considering the wires were in good condition. Replaced the pot with the new one, gave the servo assembly a good cleaning, and my problem was gone

Did mk2kompressor's fix of relieving the underside of the servo top cover. Great catch, dude. I've been f-ing with this stupid thing when they first came out. I avoided touching the car upon my recent return from hiatus.

Now the MA-010 is my new favorite car to drive. Even more so than F1, and that's saying a lot. Now all those ideas I had for the car way back when are getting dusted off. Stay tuned...
