EzLap timing system bracket

I made a bracket to help hold and organize the ezlap timing modules onto 3/4" pvc pipe. We had previously used zip ties to hold everything together and to be honest they work fine, but don't look the best.

I want a 3d printer. I used Velcro to attach mine which works okay but they don't always face directly down if things get bumped.

I decided to setup a track in my garage this past weekend and I have a few of timing systems for testing but felt I would give the easylap system a fair shake instead of my desk testing.

I've noticed the system sometimes misses the laps. I've made it work better by raising it to the suggested 19" but I still get a misread every once in a while. Just curious if you have any suggestions.

I'm noticing you setup all 4 sensors and I thought that was overkill but maybe that's my first step. My other 3 systems will work with just 2 of the sensors at a lower height.

This seems to be a common experience with Easylap, which is one of the reasons why I went with ILap. Not that ILap is immune to skipped laps but more reliable in my opinion.

My experience with ezlap has been pretty good. I have used all 4 receiving units the whole time we have had it. We started using it in Dec of 2018. The bottom of the sensors are 13" from the track. We all use ezlap orange transponders. I have not noticed a missed lap on our evo cars ever that I can remember. With exception of swapping bodies and forgetting to move the transponder under the window.

We have noticed missed laps on ve cars when the batteries are getting low on voltage. These cars had the transponder plugged into the ics plug. Possible solution to that could be to solder the transponder wires onto the battery tabs.

MR03 rwd fhss cars we have had problems when the transponders are plugged into the "ics" plug. The polarity on the rwd ics plug is reversed. If you take the plug that comes with the transponder and swap the red and black wires you can use the plug in the ics port to power the transponder, but the voltage is lower and pulses when applying throttle. The answer of course is to solder the wires to the rear battery terminals.

One other time was with a pn2.5 chassis I had the wires soldered to one of the inside battery terminals instead of the out side terminal. I was only getting 4.5v (if my memory is right) to the transponder instead of 6v that you get from the outside terminals.

As far as I know anytime that a lap was missed we were able to identify the issue as a placement issue or a voltage issue. I am sure it has missed a lap and we have not noticed, but that would be few and far enough between that it doesn't make much difference I guess.

We are starting a larger club soon (hopefully) and I have another ezlap system that I am setting up. For this system I ordered a 5th sensor to put on the timing loop. My thought is that with more cars on the track a wider coverage would be beneficial, but that is just a gut feeling and may not help at all.
