Battery charger suggestion

Hi,

I'm going to buy a charger for the batteries in my Mini-Z, and was wondering if you guys have any suggestions on what kind of charger I should buy?

The charger should be a fast one and take 4 AAA batteries (700 mAh NiMH). I have a power supply that gives 12V and 5A.

I have looked at the Jeti Mini Charger (which looks kind of OK to me, I just need a holder for the batteries). Anyone had any experience with this charger?

Link to Jeti

Cheers!

Why a fast charger, get a slower charger !
The fast charging makes the performance of the batteries go down faster. Get a charger which takes about 4 hours that will make it possible to use the batteries twice as long as a charger that take 2 hours to charge the bateries.

You will have to get some more sets of batteries, the Z runs about an hour on avarage, so with 5 sets you could be racing nonstop .
I would settle for 3 sets or so.

How long the batteries last does not matter. I'm happy if I can get 3-400 cycles with them.

Anyway, what kind of charger did you have in mind (brand, model)?

Cheers

Look into the Rayovac PS4 1 hour charger.. should be under 30$ - I love mine! I was going to buy two of these, but the charger is DOWN more then its charging cuz it charges so fast... so I dont need another one .

Charger

I've looked at Rayovac's PS4 a lot, they look really nice, yet I haven't gotten one yet because everybody says you should be able to find it for under $30, yet the lowest price I have found on it is $37.95... It is a really nice charger, the pricing is good, and there is a car adaptor that comes with it (in some cases) that will charge it on the way to a track or something! From all the research I've done on the chargers, I would also go with Draconious and say go with the PS4. It has good pricing, fast charging, and is resonably small.

By the way Draconious, where'd you find it for under $30? Or are you just saying that's what we should be able to find it for?

Machritis, go to Eckards or Walgreens (assuming you're in the States) and you will find it for about $28-30 bucks. They also sell NiMH batteries but they are a liiiiiiiiittle pricey there.

I have yet to buy one but it's next on the list of stuff to buy now that my car is set up to my liking.

Question

That Rayovac charger seems like a good choice, but I can't seem to find any reseller here in Norway.

If anyone knows of a substitute for that charger in Norway, I would like to know.

Have a nice day folks!

actually, i have the radio shack 1hour charger, supposedly
it detects when the batteries are full and stops charging in
addition to a timer cut off...
i've seen rayovac chargers around, but haven't seen one that
charges in an hour,
the link to the radio shack charger is

radioshack charger

does anyone know if this is the same charger as the rayovac internally?

Seems to me that this charger would also do the trick,
but RadioShack is not anywhere near me (the Atlantic
ocean is between me and the nearest RadioShack store )

Does any of our UK or Scandinavian friends here know
of any brand of 1 hour chargers thats available on this
side of the Atlantic?

Cheers

Zappy, according to the "Where to Buy" on this page they are only sold in the US, Canada, Singapore, and Australia

http://www.rayovac.com/products/recharge/recharge.shtml

If you can't find one, we can always grab one for you and mail it over if you like.

PS4 is usualy 29.99 (well thats under 30$ ) hehe... with out the case and cigarette adapter... some dont even come with the 2 1600 mah AA cells, they usualy come with, with the case and adapter its often 10-20$ more... but kind of a waste. I've seen it on rinky dink web sites that I would not realy trust for a few bucks less... wasnt worth writing those urls down though.

I have tried to catch a few on Ebay cheaper then 30$ but ppl always bid like 40$ on them... hehe.. too lazy to goto the store I guess (not many online stores have them, start stocking Dave ).

Walgreens is were I got it for like 28$ and sum cents... Ive seen it at wallmart for 29.99, and at Computer City for 39$ (no travel set in any of the above).
