The start of this body is the familiar white McLaren F1 Autoscale that is supplied with the best deal RWD readyset. One of the Tri-Cities guys recently purchased this, and to meet our "club rules" of only race cars on our track, I offered to get it up to Livery spec. He is the owner/operator of Professional Investment Services, so he gave me his digital logo and I made the decals. The secondary sponsors and style are based on the Fina Longtail F1 Le Mans car. Paint used was Tamiya Acrylic that was mixed to match the decal colors to the best of my ability. Other than a bit of orange peel of Future on the front windshield, I am happy with how it turned out. It was a fun project and the decals were fun to make. My friend was really happy with it, and it looks great on the track. I was really concerned about the number and flag decals on the front wheel vents, but they were no problem with Micro Set/Sol.
Nice! are you using Testor's decal paper / sealer?
No, but the process is the same. I have 8.5 ×11 paper I ordered from some online store in clear and white (it does not have a brand on it I can find). I spray it with a clear acrylic. The instructions say Krylon crystal clear, but I couldn't find it so I used a rustoleum clear acrylic. The limit is of course, no white printing. I would have printed the wing decal in white lettering, instead I had to do some trimming and make the black outlines in white. I just made the decals in WORD. No fancy graphics art programs, luckily this scale can get away without having Vector files that can be sized up without pixilating.
