New Iwaver PCB and Chassis Set

I understand that the new Iwaver PCB set can handle the XSPEED PRO motor. I am just curious if the new chassis set also uses this PCB or is it like the regular PCB you get with the RTR version. Reason I want to know is that I burnt up a FET and am trying to decide whether to replace the PCB with the new Iwaver PCB or save myself the installation drama and purchase a chassis set. Advice would be greatly appreciated.

Alot of debate over that. Many are saying just get the chassis set because of the extras.

The new boards all come with up graded fets over the originals but even those were at the limit with the X-Speed Pro. They have since changed to fets that can handle the X-Speed Pro without any modifications at all.

A new IW 01, 500 before Christmas, will be introduced that have the Pro compatible fets and they will be identified with silver wheels on the Tx and black wheels on the car.

04s will come with the the Pro fets right from the release date but the first 02s will not. The 02 PCB will be upgraded after christmas.

Other news of interest is that Iwaver will remold the 01, 02 and 04 after Christmas to move away from "the shadow of slave copy" meaning Kyosho clone. The size will be the same but the appearance and technology will change. There will continue to be some compatibility between parts but Iwaver is also sourcing suppliers for upgrade parts.

In their corespondence Iwaver has also expressed a concern for licensing rights of bodies and we see that in the picture of the 04 body that like the MZM body does not look like any existing 1:1 truck currently available. They have also restated their intention to provide better quality than Kyosho at a lower cost. Using stock fets that can actually handle the Pro motors certainly is a step in that direction.

Thanks for the info. You cats are like CNN with the latebreaking RC News. Since Christmas is right around the corner, I might just wait for the new 01 instead of trying to buy a new PCB or chassis set. i hope they dont jack up the price too much on the new stuff.

Easy knows what he's talking about, he's a good resource... I don't know how he gets his info, but he's come through for me before, so I trust it. Sad to hear that the IW-02s wont ship with the new FETs... I was really looking forward to that...

Toy east advertises that the 01 rtr kit they sell has the upgraded fets. I bought a RTR kit from them and the tx wheel is white. It has handeled a pns04 motor with no problems yet. the fets dont even get hot. are you saying mine doesnt have the new fets?

Don't worry...

Your new GT40, if you recall, on the Toy East website, says that it has "new 6V MOSFETs so that you can use the Xspeed Pro Directly"

No worries bout that... we just have to figure out why they are going to change the wheel to silver and the car wheels to black after making the performance and chassis changes already...
