New rules, new class?

I head via the grape vine Saturday that new rules are in place for a 4100KV class? Any updates on classes and rules that can be shared?

This fits in with HFAY and Mod Class.

I'm curious, for those with a 4100kv motor, does this now make the 3500kv motors obsolete? How similar are they?

Was there ever a further discussion/decision as to whether or not the 4100kv would be the new HFAY spec?

I don't feel the 4100 will replace stronger 3500 offerings. It has it's place as kyosho's only stock oriented offering but I'm sure many will prefer the 3500 (excluding the PN 3.1)

I would have to go back and read S29 rules on allowing the 4100. I asked if it would be.

Sorry, the reason I brought up HFAY was that I was thinking their rules would not exclude them from certain classes Washington DC GTG runs. This would allow them to come up and race without having to make any changes to their chassis.

I actually cannot confirm that the 4100kv is HFAY legal. I should not have said that.

However, the 4100kv with a 9t pinion does feel like a 3500kv motor. It's pricey in comparison to the other options.

Im pretty sure 4100 is not in the S29 rules, and I wasn't confused by your mention of HFAY I remember arch2b suggesting or asking about it, several people in agreement, and then that was it.

I was mostly curious since the point (IMO) is to match the 70T HFAY spec, not the stock motor. Previously, HFAY allowed the 5600kv, which clearly outclasses the 70T, and the 3500 feels slightly under.

While all motors are subtly different, I find the 3500 to be just slightly less powerful than a 70T. I can match acceleration or top speed via gearing, but not both.

Additionally, it would be cool if there was a RTR car that was HFAY spec you could point a new driver at.

There are HFAY legal BR RTR cars, not BL until the 4100 is approved.

I did get a very small amount of track time with a stock 4100kv, MM2 mount at 94mm, Supra body, 9t, PN SuperSoft rears, Kyosho low profile 30 fronts. Obviously, not the most competitive body, but the car was very smooth and stable, and very close in speed to PN V2 3500kv at 53/13 gearing. Best out of the box onto the track car I've had from Kyosho with just tires, so I think it's a great choice for a class at RVA, and may possibly fit in well for HFAY after some more track data can be analyzed.
